Intentional AV

I haven’t had time this week to survey the AV industry in general about the impact of COVID-19 on field personnel and on business levels, especially cancellations. I’m handling our own cancellations here; two this week- one complete cancellation of an annual event this month and one postponement of an event scheduled for April. How is this affecting you and your business?

We are heavily into the execution season for our Spring,Summer and Fall events. As always we are integrally involved with our clients in reading "the fine print" in all of the venue contracts, looking for true partners rather than "gotchas". How carefully are you reviewing your agreements for hidden fees and charges?

AV industry friends; when was the last time you got a residual income check every week for setting up screens, projectors and sound systems and pulling cable while scraping around on your knees on hotel carpeting for a client who barely knows (or cares) that you're there? There IS another way.

This week in AV News: PSAV just announced a deal they made with The Freeman Companies (freemanco.com)s to acquire Encore Event Technologies. Freeman bought Encore several years ago. Encore was one of the last remaining (read: competing) global hotel AV suppliers and staging companies. Care to share your thoughts on if - or how - this will impact the thousands of end-user clients throughout the world?

I just found out that my FB Messenger may have been hacked. Does anyone know how to I hackit? Is there any solve?

Today is/was our father's birthday. I see his picture every day and my mind runs through the menu of things that he and our mom did for my brother and me, the sacrifices they made to expose us to the arts and culture and that they showed us the building blocks of a worthwhile life. He wasn't a tall guy but (now that I think of it) he had a sensibility about him that made him a giant in my mind. I got the creative gene from him for which I will be forever grateful. It's funny how he seems to mean more to me today than when he was with us on terra firma. I guess I've just grown to appreciate him more so I'm feeling kinda lucky and certainly blessed. Thanks, Daddy.
