Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of the fallen Sacramento Sheriff Deputy, a 6 year veteran, killed in the line of duty. That's 3 times in a week suspects have shot at Sacramento law enforcement. https://www.kcra.com//large-law-enforcement-prese/35248766#

In Memoriam: Senior Sgt. Joseph Silva. This morning an RPD legend and a founder of the RPOA has passed on. Senior Sgt. Silva is an RPD legend who served the residents of Richmond and his brothers and sisters in blue for over 4 decades. You could not have worn an RPD patch for the past 50 years and not have been influenced by this great cop. It is because of great cops like Joseph Silva that gave Richmond PD a good name throughout law enforcement. Rest easy Senior Sergeant Silva and thank you for paving a way for the POA and Richmond Police Officers.

Hanukkah is the eight-day Jewish celebration that commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, where according to legend Jews had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt. Often called the Festival of Lights, the holiday is celebrated rarely in November and regularly in December based on the Hebrew calendar with the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods, games and gifts. Today, December 10th, marks the first night of Hanukkah, commencing at sunset and concludes on the evening of December 18th. Happy Hanukkah to our members and the public who are celebrating.
