Tom LaBonge was a great person, Councilmember, and friend. When Ken and I mentioned to him that we were trying to find Lou Adler for the Roosevelt H.S. Alumni Foundation's Hall of Fame, he immediately told his secretary to get Lou Adler on the phone. It turned out they were friends. When we honored Willie Davis at the Hall of Fame, Tom LaBonge, left his son's birthday party for a couple of hours because he was a great fan of Willie Davis and wanted to see and talk to him. A tribute to Coach Padilla by East LA Sports Scene

Coach Al Padilla passed away a couple of days ago, Oct 4th. There will be no service due to the pandemic. My thoughts and condolences to his wife and family. He was not only a "Mighty Rough Rider", he was a good, funny friend. Always there to make you smile. He will be missed.
