Relay for Life of Pacifica Coastside

We started Relay For Life as Team Awesome 7 years ago because cancer had affected all of our lives. I had friends that were cancer survivors, my mom was a cancer survivor. This year was more important for us to participate in Relay For Life because this year I’m a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July, and during COVD I went through my cancer journey and I’ve come out on the other side. I’m cancer-free. Congratulations Petra on beating cancer this year! We are so thankful that we were able to be a part of your journey. Thank you for sharing your story.

In 2019 I ran my first 5k with team ACS’s Team DetermiNation in Napa CA. I was running to honor family members who have been touched by cancer. Little did I know I would soon be diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I am happy to announce that I am cancer free and have lots to look forward to -- Randy and I are expecting our first child in July 2021! As a cancer survivor, fertility was one of the first things I was concerned about when having to do chemo. After I was given the all clear last year, Randy and I started trying in September 2020 and by November I was pregnant! It felt like a miracle. Congratulations Michelle on your pregnancy! We are happy to have been a part of your cancer journey, and of course, are so excited for your little one to join our Relay family soon! <3
