My new MB custom pickups with calibrated CTS pots and vintage tone caps. Only difference from stock Strat wiring is the assignment of the lower tone pot to the bridge pickup.

Just received a set of new Mark Brown handmade Stratocaster pickups. The steel plate on the bridge pickup gives it a punch and presence that has me feeling like I've found THE single coil bridge tone for me. All three are punchy and articulate. I'm digging the clean tones, but man, they really come alive with overdrive. If you're a Strat pickup user in my area, I'd be happy to set up a test drive for you. They're installed in my main GuitarWorks S-1 and I have a few amps to p...lay through. I'm really excited to be part of the genesis of getting the word out on these. They're available through me or direct from Mark. Custom variations in the pickups would have to be discussed with Mark, but this set uses a mix of ALNICO magnets and hand scatterwound coils. I'm frankly stunned by how quiet they are compared to the pickups I had in the guitar previously. Much less hum, but they are true single coil pickups. Not sure how he does that, but sure not complaining. :) See more

I've often wondered what became of this instrument. The customer I did the work for sadly passed away a few years ago. I miss that guy.

Sometimes customers bring me all the parts required to build a very nice instrument and my job is simply to bring them together in the best way possible. Well, with a Warmoth Gold Sparkle over ash body and a roasted(torrified) Maple neck, a pre-wired pickguard, and Hipshot locking tuners that mount with a plate the eliminates drilling screw holes in the back of the headstock made this an easy job that yielded a great sounding guitar with excellent playability.
