As we end the academic year, Revelle Hall Association would like to thank all of our amazing student-leaders for their contribution to the organization. We would not have been able to create and host the many events we had this year without your time and effort! We hope that you had fun along the way as we brought the Revelle community together while creating memories Again, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making this year a great one and have a great summer! BURNOUT TIP #4 : Social Media Use As we go through finals, we often find ourselves scrolling through Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, or any other social media platforms. Social media often leads to procrastination to take place, driving our focus away from studying. In order to tackle that problem, here are some tips and tricks to help you focus more on studying!... TIP #1: Have a Social Media cleanse! Having a cleanse improves ones sleep and their mental health! By taking a break from social media, you can focus on studying for your finals and allow yourself the time needed to fully understand the material. TIP#2: Schedule a time to use your phone Have a set-time to check what is happening. Give yourself time to study and prepare yourself. Once you hit that mark, reward yourself with some time on social media. Keep up the momentum until you’ve covered all the material! Good luck with finals y’all! Happy studying

Burnout TIP #2 Resources As we near finals, students often stress out and forget the many resources that are available to them during these times. Here are some of the resources that are available to help you get through finals. Resources To Help You: ... Utilize Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) for remote, confidential psychological counseling and crisis services. CAPS also provides a variety of remote groups, virtual workshops, and drop-in Zoom forums. You will find a calendar of CAPS programs and services at https://wellness.ucsd.edu/caps. If you need flexibility with final exams, please reach out to your College Dean of Academic Advising, your College Dean of Student Affairs, or your professor. You might consider taking an Incomplete; elect, by the end of week 10, to take any of your courses as Pass/No Pass; or work with your professor directly to find a resolution that works for both of you. Whatever you determine to be the best option for you, getting guidance form your Dean of Academic Advising, Dean of Student Affairs, a CAPS counselor or your professor will relieve stress and aid you in achieving your goals. Our Deans would be glad to hear from you and are available directly by email: Sherry Mallory, Revelle College, Dean if Student Affairs - [email protected] Katie Michel, Revelle College, Dean of Academic Advising - [email protected] Connect with a campus resource like OASIS’ drop-in Zoom mentoring, remote academic resource workshops, or 1-on-1 writing workshops. The Teaching + Learning Commons also hosts remote study groups, a writing hub, and remote learning strategies workshops, and provides virtual supplemental instruction support for a number of courses. You can find additional information about these resources as well as others on the VCSA COVID-19 Information for Students webpage. https://vcsa.ucsd.edu/news/covid-1

It doesn’t hurt to message a group chat and initiate study groups. TIP #2: Ask questions The point of study groups is to ask for help from your peers. Feel comfortable asking questions, because someone will most likely be able to help you. TIP #3: Office Hours Take advantage of professors and TA office hours because they are there to help you succeed in the class. Alas, it is our last burnout tip but we hope that you all learned a lot about the different strategies/tips we have provided! Remember taking care of yourself is the most important rule that is out there. With that being said, here is our burnout tip for today: Time Management ... Learning to balance your time is a tricky art - many students are juggling school, work, and extra-curriculars. On top of all that, students have to find time to get a healthy amount of sleep and physical activity, as well as maintain a balanced diet. Learning to master time management can be difficult, but with some tips and practice, it can be achieved by anyone! For more information about how to master time management visit: the Academic Integrity Website, your respective college’s website, and the CAPS website! TIP #1: Creating a checklist Whether you have a day by day checklist or hour by hour checklist, try planning out what you want to study each day. Try to schedule some of the above self-care tips into your checklist to find time to create a balance between studying and taking self-care breaks. TIP #2: Prioritizing Try prioritizing the easy and quick tasks first so you can feel accomplished, gain a momentum and motivation to tackle the more difficult and longer tasks. Keep in mind deadlines when doing this. You may want to set up your own personal deadline versus the actual deadline to give some cushion. TIP OF THE DAY!! TIP OF THE DAY!! While we are studying, we tend to forget to do one of the most essential things: Staying Hydrated!!! Today, we will be showing you tips and tricks to remind you of the different ways drinking water could help you during finals! ... Did you know that regularly drinking water improves brain function, helps prevent headaches and increases energy? Drinking the recommended daily eight 8-ounce glasses of water can be difficult for some. Try splitting the amount amongst your "to-do" list, or try setting an alarm on your phone as reminders! There are many hydration stations placed all over campus! TIP #1: Start every day with water Try making drinking water the first thing you do each day and before you know it you have incorporated it into your daily routine and created a healthy habit! TIP #2: Chase juice and caffeine with water An easy way to stay hydrated and add in your recommended intake is to chase your juice, coffee, or any non-water drink, with water! This can also help dilute the added sugars and extra caffeine to help keep your body in a balance. TIP #3: Infuse your water Mixing fruits or flavor to your water can help you reach your daily water intake goal by new flavors to your water. Also a great alternative to sugary drinks. Stay hydrated folks! #ucsandiego #revellecollege #ucsd

And we're back with another Burnout tip for you all! This time, we are focusing on: Exercise With so much going on, we understand that finding time for physical activity may seem like an impossible task. It is recommended to get about 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week. While that may seem like a lot, it breaks down to only 30 minutes of movement a day. Here are some ways to get in your daily 30 minutes of physical activity! For more information on physical ...activity, visit the Health Promotion Services Website: https://wellness.ucsd.edu//he/Pages/physical-activity.aspx TIP #1: Stretching: Include 2-5 minutes of stretch breaks in between your studies to help you stay awake and alert. Your posture at a desk, on the floor or bed may be hurting your back and making you tense and stiff so this can also help blood circulation and aches. TIP #2: Walking: It has been shown that walking helps stimulate the brain and activate certain regions that help you do well on tests! Try adding walking breaks in your checklists as easy self-care study breaks. TIP #3: Leaving study environment: Whether it is walking, taking the stairs, stretching, biking or playing a game of sports, it is important to try and leave your study environment every once in a while as a study break. This change in environment can be refreshing and help you refocus while studying. Until next time! #ucsandiego #revellecollege #ucsd

TIP #1: Don’t be afraid to reach out! Everyone is studying for finals and what better way to study than with people taking the same class. They know the content very well and can answer almost all your questions. You may even meet people who are also looking for study groups. That’s what we have for now, stay tuned for more RHA burnout tips! #revellecollege #ucsandiego #ucsd #burnoutweektips
