On February 15, 1959, a small group of history enthusiasts gathered at the D. B. Harris farm about two miles north of Reedley. On that day the Jim Savage Chapt...er of E Clampus Vitus assembled on the west bank of the Kings River to place a marker commemorating the site of John Pool’s Ferry, which operated at that place for a few years in the 1850s. Clampers Archie Stevenot and Glenn Myers are pictured on the right. Myers was the Clamporator for the day; Stevenot conducted the dedication. The man on the left is unidentified. The wooden marker was lost to the ravages of time, so the Clampers installed a new stone and granite marker nearby in 2019.
