Redwood City, CA Elks #1991 matched their Gratitude Grant and donated $5,000 to Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. By donating in October, other donors matched the amount we gave so that the food bank ultimately received $10,000! Pictured are Exalted Ruler Amy Giugliano PER, Chaplain Carol Irvin, Secretary Lyle Personette PDDGER, and Shobana Gubbi, Director of Leadership Gifts for the food bank. Elks Care, Elks Share.

Tonight would have been the Lodge's Birthday Steak Night, the 7th first Wednesday cancelled by COVID. It's one of our best events. In honor of our October birthdays, I'm grilling NYs at home.

Sometime today, step away from your BBQ and cold beer, pray for our Country, and thank all who made the ultimate sacrifice in its defense. Thank you. PS: JFK was a good Elk.

The Country of San Mateo has allowed us to open our golf course per the revised Shelter-in-Place Order beginning Monday May 4th provided we strictly follow the ...established guidelines and social distancing requirements. The safety and health of our employees and our members is paramount. To accomplish this, the following rules and policies have been put in place. Please read carefully. Any person not following the rules will be asked to leave and may not be allowed to play in the future. 1. Only Elks members in good standing will be allowed to play during the first week, May 4th through May 10th. Spouse and immediate family will be allowed to play with the Elks member. No guests or public play is allowed during the first week we open. We need this first week to make sure the safety protocols we have put in place are working as planned and exceed the requirements put forth by the County. 2. Members who have not paid their dues for 2020-2021 will be turned away until they can prove their dues have been paid by exhibiting their valid membership card or presenting a receipt proving they have paid their dues. a. You may pay your dues online or by contacting the Lodge at [email protected]. b. The ProShop cannot take dues payments. 3. Guest and public play will begin Monday May 11th provided the first week goes as planned. 4. Only golfers with a tee time made in advance can golf. There can be no walk-up play. Call the ProShop at 650.368.7820 to make a tee time. Tee times are spaced 10 minutes apart throughout the day. a. The ProShop and golf course hours are: 7am-6pm everyday beginning Monday May 4th. 5. No groups larger than a foursome (4) will be allowed. All players will remain 6’ apart at all times. Every golfer must have a mask or face covering which must be worn at all times, especially around the clubhouse and ProShop. Masks may be taken off on the course only when golfing alone or when all golfers live in the same household. 6. Payment will be by credit/debit card or Lodge gift card only. Absolutely NO CASH! Golfers will insert or swipe their own credit card or gift card at the terminal provided. Hand sanitizer will be available at the terminal. 7. All transactions will occur at the WINDOW on the ProShop deck. Only one person will be allowed on the deck at a time. Golfers waiting to go onto the deck to pay will form a line, 6’ feet apart as marked on the pavement leading to the deck stairs. a. There is no access to the interior of the ProShop or any of the Lodge buildings. b. Port-a-potties are available on the course. If necessary, the ProShop employee will allow one golfer at a time into the building to use the restroom. The restrooms will be sanitized thoroughly nightly and checked and cleaned regularly during the day. 8. Golf carts may be rented by members only, with priority for members with mobility issues. Only one person per cart unless they live in the same household. a. At the beginning and end of the round, the renter will wipe down and disinfect the cart with the cleaning products provided and supervised by a ProShop employee. b. There will be no club or disk rentals. 9. The ProShop will sell balls, tees, and other merchandise as normal (through the window). 10. No bars at the Lodge will be open. Beer, ice and some snacks may be purchased at the window in the ProShop. a. There is no self-service ice available. The Lodge ice machines will be locked and off limits to golfers. b. Golfers are never allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages onto Lodge property. No drinking is allowed in the parking lot. c. Golfers are not allowed to hang out at the Lodge, either before or after their round of golf. The lower picnic area and deck are not to be used for golfers to congregate. 11. The driving range is closed. The practice greens are open, and golfers MUST observe social distancing requirements when using the practice areas. 12. Foursomes or multiple groups of golfers must not congregate on or near a single tee box. Groups must always be appropriately distanced from each other. 13. All rakes and ball washers have been removed from the course for your safety. Generally, refrain from sitting on benches or touching things around the golf course that could be contaminated. 14. PVC inserts have been put into all the golf holes and protrude above ground level to prevent golf balls from going into the cup. A ball striking the PVC insert is considered holed. Golfers are not to touch the flagstick. 15. Golfers must not share equipment. 16. Disk golf is permitted, but tee times are also required. No walk-up play is allowed. All social distancing protocols must be observed. There should be no sharing of equipment/disks and care must be taken to minimize contact with baskets. 17. The tennis courts are not currently open for member use. The SIP prohibits sports that use shared balls or equipment. We will monitor this current restriction and revise our policy when appropriate to do so. General Notice To all employees, members, and guests on Redwood City Elks’ property and Emerald Hills Golf Course: Avoid coming to the property, or entering this facility, if you have a cough or fever; Wear masks, gloves, and other PPE when required; Maintain a minimum six-foot distance from other people at all times; Sneeze and cough into a cloth or tissue or, if not available, into one’s elbow; Do not shake hands or engage in any unnecessary physical contact. Redwood City Elks Members, San Mateo County has extended the Shelter-In-Place (SIP) through the end of May. However, they have also relaxed and amended the SIP orders to allow for more outdoor activities, including golf. Golf courses can open next Monday, May 4th, provided strict guidelines and procedures are followed. The Golf Committee and the Lodge Leadership are working to make this happen. The health and safety of our members and employees is paramount and we want to o...pen correctly, following the guidelines provided by the County of San Mateo. Tomorrow afternoon another blast will go out detailing how our golf course will reopen and the new rules, protocols, and social distancing requirements that must be observed. There are a lot of questions to be answered... please wait until after reading tomorrow afternoon's missive before calling or emailing Amy, Paul, Joe, or the Golf Committee. We will be as thorough and clear as possible in letting you know how this is going to roll out. Thank you for your patience. Fraternally, Amy G, Exalted Ruler Paul B, House Committee Chair RWC Elks Golf Committee and Joe S, ProShop Manager

RWC Lodge and Property CLOSED Hello members, I’m hopeful that this blast finds all of you well and safely at home during these interesting times.... As you know, as of last Friday we have closed our Lodge completely. To be in compliance with the Shelter In Place orders currently in place our entire property is closed.
