Happy Monday Everyone! Sunday we announced a fun opportunity to serve in our neighborhood! Sunday, July 4 we’re throwing a party for our elderly neighbors at 850 Broderick St 10am-12pm in their courtyard! We’ll have live music, grilling food, and connecting with our neighbors! Why should we celebrate Juneteenth? On January 1, 1863 President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Sadly, it took more than two years for that news to reach all enslaved African Americans. The news didn’t reach enslaved Africans in Galveston, TX until June 19, 1865. We celebrate June 19th as Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, because on that day all Black Americans became free! *See slide three for a few ways to honor Juneteenth! Happy Juneteenth!

We were so glad to celebrate 8 years of gathering as a church with each of you! We loved having Pastor Brandon Watts encourage us, getting to see one another, and capping things off with fellowship in the park under the with live music!
