I'm still doing a deep dive into spring cleaning (is it still spring?) I rediscovered this 1950's bridal gown ( dead stock). From City of Paris a well known fashion house is SF back in the day. Only a little lace repair is needed but she is very dingy and I'm afraid she may not survive a cleaning. I'm going to enjoy her for awhile before I gamble

When I reflect on the past year I usually think of the solitude of working at home alone. Working on putting all my gowns and accessories online- fixing, repairing, photographing, posting, editing, marketing... Then today I came across this photo of one of my beautiful brides. Seeing how happy she is I remember how happy it made me to work one on one (in person!) with my brides. It gave me such joy to work with them and I am so grateful for every one who chose me to help them find that one special dress. I am going to miss that connection (I already do). As I move into my next phase I hope that it allows me to connect with others in such a way that it brings each of us joy such as this.

This post is long overdue. People always ask me how I got into the business of restyling vintage bridal gowns. And many also want to know what my dress looked like. The answer always starts with my own dress but there's one important fact that I need to credit. My sister Starr was the one who came to my rescue when I wanted to create a dress from a very worn and torn 1930's lace dress. The neckline was torn so she suggested we turn it around and use it to create an open back. In addition to that - there were so many holes in the dress that she stayed up late with me on the nights before the wedding helping me repair the lace. I owe so much to her for not only helping me create the dress of my dreams but helping to plant the seeds of my business. I love you Starr
