... I started working out consistently when I was 208 lbs. I’ve always been active but I started eating more and exercising less. I couldn't get away with the same stuff I was once eating. ... I noticed I was getting really out of shape, and was struggling with how I felt, mentally & physically, and so I decided it was time to make a change. I started being consistent with my training and eating healthier but then I tore my ACL 2 months after that, my mom passed away unexpectedly. And about a year and a half after I tore my Achilles Feeling helpless after my second surgery within 2 years I knew I needed to take control of my health. Fitness for me helped me to take control back of my life and feel structured. I struggled with how I was feeling for so long, I needed something that could help me change my body and also upgrade my mindset. It was hard at first, I tried Eating Clean Eating every 2 hours Fastinf Tried low carb ! I got some results but I didn't start making changes until I started understanding nutrition, doing heavy compound movements & tracking my lifts. Fitness is confusing as it is Should you do fasted cardio? Keto?... What type of protein shakes should you be having?? There’s information everywhere and it’s hard for you to trust which route to go... sounds great & everything sounds like it makes sense... I saw a million different programs & they all made sense but they also all contradicted each other. I’d try one, not knowing if it’d work, not really see any progress.. Find another one and do the same thing I’d ask, do my own research trying to figure out the best method.. Then do the same thing over & over I really felt like I was never going to make any kind of progress. It wasn’t until I stuck with the basics I began training 3 times a week about 45 minutes. I didn’t try fancy exercises. I stuck with 5-6 basic movements After a few months of consistency I finally began to see progress. I used to think that I needed the absolute best program and there was some kind of "" out there that I was missing... In actuality I was missing consistency and patience The workout were not glamorous, the time that I was putting in was NOT excessive. When new clients begin working with me they think they need to do an excessive amount of cardio, starve themselves, and train for hours at a time That’s simply not the case. That’s actually what got them stuck in the first place! My clients have peace of mind that what they’re doing is working & there’s light at the end of the tunnel! " - " When I mention that this man was putting in work that's an understatement Prior to working together Mina was killing himself with workouts and cardio!... He was lifting weights 6x/week and doing 2-3 hours of cardio DAILY! Mina was literally burning himself out with all of the cardio and working out he was doing... I was so frustrated from everything. The fitness thing frustrated me. I knew I was working harder than most of the people that but I was nowhere near them. I was doing cardio... I was eating clean I was training hard! The problem was that all the information out there makes sense... but all contradicts each other Fasted cardio for fat loss High reps to tone Low reps to build strength Only eat clean foods.... but a cheat meal is needed... WHAT!? You get to a point where you feel like you've tried everything, and none of it works... not long term at least. I got to a point where I told myself "' ." I thought I just had bad genetics & it some people just can't get one When i really started understanding fitness and how simple it really is, I felt betrayed... it sounds crazy but it made me skeptical of EVERYTHING out there That's why I teach my clients that shit that works. I've been in the same situation they have. Feeling helpless and that nothing works is a terrible feeling. Which Is a big reason that I became a trainer, I don't want people burning themselves out the way I did Imagine putting in work and seeing results, imagine killing yourself, yet seeing more progress than when you killing yourself with hours of cardio. No more restrictive eating, no more burning out with cardio and working out until you hate it. Just writing that title out is going to trigger some people, and that's ok. I expect some backlash from it, although it probably won't be directly to me. I thought I should maybe use some different words, incase I offend anyone or incase it might be a detriment to my business. If it is, it's ok that's the word i've decided to use.... Worrying about what others would think of me... -If I posted certain pictures. -Wrote certain content. -used certain words Are what delayed me starting my business in the first place. Even after starting my business, it was still a mental struggle... "what if people think i'm really cocky or trying to show off?" "What if a potential client doesn't like the way I speak. " "What if family sees this and tells me to tone it down?" "What if a family friend sees this and thinks different of me?" I know what you might be thinking... " ?" That sounds good coming out of people's mouths but actually pulling the trigger and doing it is completely different. No matter your age. Well i did conform to the those thoughts (amongst others) And it held me back from sharing my vision, my work, ultimately helping hundreds of people that I could have helped earlier... and maybe some that I never got to help Even posting a picture like this was tough for me, because I didn't want to seem like " " I bought that car, I worked hard for it, and i'm barely showing it now... after YEARS of owning it Whatever is holding you back, don't let it. If you have a dream, a vision, a business you want to start. Just do it. You don't need anybody's approval, you don't have to wait for someone's feedback. Ever wanted to change so bad but didn’t know how? That was me!... I asked questions to friends that were in better shape than me. I read through countless articles, I’d ask questions in forums. (do you guys know what that is? ) It was extremely frustrating I was trying to find out the most efficient way to train & eat..so much so that it’d cripple me even wanting to do anything. Everytime I thought I found the perfect formula, i’d hear about something new. I tried consistent training with what I knew I tried eating clean Tried fasted cardio.. I tried almost everything I got to the point of telling myself that my body wasn’t built that way and that i’d never get a six pack. It was frustrating to think that these things were out of my control. But they weren’t I just didn’t have the right information After having a 2nd surgery, I didn’t want to play basketball anymore & continue getting injured. I followed a program that had everything outlined for me. Got certified, & continue to educate myself about training & nutrition The last thing you want to do when you’re finally ready & motivated to train & eat for your goals is figuring out & to do it efficiently. That’s a whole job on it’s own!! The biggest benefits of my clients working with me is that we fast forward all the pain, the frustration & the years of trial & error. The ones that do reach out took that leap! It’s tough as grown adult to ask another adult for help. But I commend them for that! Luckily they reach out before it’s too late, before they go on some fad diet that’s only going to ruin their physical & mental state for years to come. Can't tell you how many times I’ve got this question followed by a chuckle and yes it does get annoying lol It’s gotten to the point where my friends are starting to get more annoyed by people asking me this than I am ... ...and I get it.. I’m the "workout guy", "the trainer". How am I allowed to eat dirty foods? I'm going to tell you why I'm allowed to eat this way & give you some tips on how you can too while maintaining a healthy & happy physique 1: I stopped demonizing foods. Stop calling foods good and bad. What's that mean anyway? All foods have nutritional value, and yes having an is more nutritious & has more micronutrients than a slice of pizza. But one slice of won't ruin your diet 2: I learned moderation. The reason I'd gain weight from eating dirty foods is because I'd overeat it. Not a gluten issue, it wasn’t a thyroid issue, my metabolism wasn’t screwed up. I just ate too damn much of that bad food... I'd then feel bad...Try & burn it off w/ exercise. Be drained, then overeat again. Sound familiar? Eat a little bit less of these bad foods instead of ALL of them. : The most important one I can eat whatever the hell I want lol. Stop bugging me! I’m kidding...partly. If I'm going to a party/event I usually plan & track my food ahead of time. If not, I make smarter decisions. Ya having an epic cheat meal + dessert sounds great... But if i’m already messing up, i’m not throwing my whole day/week away in one sitting. Stick to the basics when eating out even this here, If you ask for sour cream/guac on the side, you have more control over your intake & probably saving a couple hundred calories. A big reason my clients succeed ( ) is because they learn these things in ! They learn to live a normal lifestyle & still lose fat. Not a quick fix that they eventually bounce back from.
