November is the new December... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We want to encourage you to plan ahead and do your holiday shopping early this year. There are not yet crowds of people waiting to get into the store; it is easy to keep six feet apart. As our space is limited to seven customers at one time--which is not very many--we may have to ask you to wait outside until someone leaves. We anticipate some serious slow downs in delivery times this year--warehouses are short...-staffed and working with social distancing. Printers are already back logged and we receive shortage notices almost every week. We are doing our best to anticipate your needs and we are stockpiling those titles that we want to have on hand--but that said, we are sure to come up short on some things. The sooner you shop, the better your chances of finding what you want (and this is across the board--not just bookstores but all of your local independent shops encourage you to stay local and shop now.) We would be delighted to schedule one-on-one appointments with our booksellers for personalized gift shopping. Of course, the sooner the better both in terms of time and book availability. Call the store, or email info@readersbooks and we will do our best to accommodate you. We will always gift wrap and yes, we do have holiday paper. As things get busier we may have to ask you to come back for your packages or wait in the garden while we wrap. Not to worry--we are fast and efficient and we'll post-it note your books so you know what goes where. So get your list together soon this year and let us help you cross things off!

What you need to know... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Store hours are 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. We have changed our Sunday hours-- on Sunday we open at 11:00 am and close at 5:00 p.m. Please use the hand sanitizer, or put on the gloves provided at the front door. Masks are required, of course.... We are still able to provide contact-less pick-up in the garden if you are not comfortable coming inside the store. Phone us at (707) 939-1779 and we will have your order bagged and ready on the table in the backyard. Used books are being accepted by appointment only. Please call us at (707) 939-1779 to arrange for a time slot. Because of space limitations we must ask you to remove the books we cannot take. We are able to look through two bags or boxes at a time. We are reaching a saturation point with used books and will likely stop accepting them before Thanksgiving and will not resume until the new year. Don't forget to pre-order Barack Obama's A Promised Land which goes on sale November 17th! Our website www.readersbooks.com is always open, as is our account at http.//bookshop.org/shop/readersbooks.

Time to Shine--be a Book Star! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's only our first week of collecting books and already there are 34 stars on the 'wall of generosity'. Thank you! What a great start to this season--already 34 local kids are assured of getting a book of their own to treasure this year. How does it work?--it's simple--you choose a children's book, buy it, donate it back to us and we will see that it gets into the hands of a deserving Sonoma Valley child. ... A star with your name on it goes up on the wall and on January 1st we pull two random stars out of a hat and those good souls are given a $50 gift certificate to Readers' Books. If you are uncomfortable coming in to the store to choose books then let us choose for you. Call us and charge a dollar amount to your credit card and we'll spend the equivalent and put stars with your name on the wall. It's been a difficult year for so many reasons, but this is a small gesture that can make an enormous impact so please consider adding a kid's book to your holiday shopping list. See more
