Windows 10 upgrade, can I, should I? With support for Windows 7 ending on January 14th, 2020 we have had quite a few people coming in asking if they can upgrade their current systems to Windows 10. The quick answer to the question is if you have a computer that is 5 years old or newer you can almost always do the upgrade. For a good portion of the systems that can be upgraded the programs and data move over as well. Should you upgrade? This depends on the state of the system... and the hardware that makes it up. I will outline the way we help people make the decision. You should upgrade and will probably have no issues if all the following is true. Your system has a moderately good Processor (Ask us if you are not sure) Your system has eight or more Gigabytes of RAM You have an SSD drive with enough free space (at least 100GB free space) You are not infected with malware You have not been having frequent blue screens or other software issues. If everything on the following list is true then the system will take windows 10 but we should probably back up your data and do a fresh install. We would also want to run hardware diagnostics on the system before the upgrade. Your system has a moderately good Processor (Ask us if you are not sure) Your system has eight or more Gigabytes of RAM You have an SSD drive with enough free space (at least 100GB free space) The system is possibly infected or has been having frequent blue screens or other software issues. If your system is working well but doesn’t have an SSD or has less than 8GB of RAM then we usually recommend you upgrade those parts before the upgrade as Windows 10 really needs both of these to be an enjoyable experience. There are many other small factors to consider but this should lay a good groundwork to understand if the upgrade is an option for you. R-Computer hosted a group of professionals from Tajikistan as a part of the Open World initiative. This delegation made a special trip to Concord with a focus on entrepreneurship and small business. The Tajiks were accompanied by Concord Rotary, Concord Chamber of Commerce and an interpreter. A tour of our store, an info session and Q/A were led by Ed. Ed was presented with a curio that depicted watermelons, a major Tajikistan crop.
