Congrats to Class of 2021 Lukas Van Groningen @lukasvangro on officially signing his Letter of Intent this Friday to further his athletic & academic career by playing men’s volleyball next year at the collegiate level for Dordt University located in Sioux Center, IA. Lukas has excelled as a 2-sport athlete (basketball & volleyball) during his high school time at Ripon Christian High. During last year’s 2019-20 sports season, Lukas helped lead our Knights’ boys basketball ...program to a Trans Valley League title, a Sac-Joaquin Section title, & a CIF State NorCal Championship last winter. For that effort, Lukas was named to the TVL’s Honorable Mention Team. Lukas is also an accomplished volleyball player who was a starter on the Knights’ boys volleyball squad that was the Sac-Joaquin Section D3 runner-up in 2019. His love for this sport ultimately led to his decision to play men’s volleyball at the collegiate level. Dordt University is a private Christian university located in Sioux Center, Iowa. It was founded in 1955 & is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Dordt annually enrolls about 1,500 students. The university offers 90 programs of study that lead to Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Master of Education degrees. Dordt University competes as an NAIA school for its college athletics. Congrats to Lukas on this remarkable achievement & we wish you God’s blessings during your upcoming collegiate career

Good News/Bad News In COVID-19 Surge. On the same day that health care workers began to get the first shots of a new, game-changing vaccine, the California Depa...rtment of Public Health announced long-awaited guidelines for youth sports (including all high schools). There’s good news and bad news in there for those involved in football, boys and girls basketball, baseball and softball. The CIF itself also may consider scrapping its current calendar to match the CDPH guidelines. These individuals have direct access to individuals in key positions that could aid us in our cause. We feel it is dually important to present the current data surrounding a safe return to play, as well as adhering and supporting current state and local health guidelines in regards to Covid-19. We want to show the state that we are not just advocating for the return of athletics, but a return to athletics utilizing any safety measure available to keep players, coaches, and officials healthy.
