Happy #worldoceanday2021 - 2 years ago we welcomed Ethyl, an 82-foot life-sized sculpture of a blue whale made of hand-recycled plastic trash to the Santa Fe Co...mmunity College (NM). Ethyl is not just a work of art; she is a message: plastic is destroying our oceans. She is a presence, inspiring us to do better. To think more environmentally. To be more proactive. #Meetthetribe Selinda Martinez received her B.S from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in #Architectural Engineering. By some grace of the universe, she was offered to engineer #Bliss #Dance by Marco Cochrane for her senior project. During her five-year role as an engineer in high-end residential construction, she continued to engineer #sculptures on the side, fostering her passion for the community of artists and builders who come together to bring large-scale #concepts to #life. Her dream is to make the real world as much of an art #playground as it is at Burning Man (she also dreams of engineering a sculpture that will be placed in #space . On a personal note, she’s super into the #magical healing powers of #mushrooms and bioenergetic #breathwork.

#Meetthetribe Alireza Lahijanian (Ali) received his B.S and M.S from UC Berkeley in #Mechanical Engineering. Due to his #passion for #earth and #humanity, after graduating he spent several years at an #offshore wind turbine company in an effort to reduce mankind’s carbon #footprint. Ali strongly believes that #art and new ideas #expand the capacity of the #human mind and that exposure to artistic #innovation is necessary for the betterment of the world. For these reasons, he is honored to bring his #talents and #experience to engineering imagination at Rbhu

#EngineeringSpotlight It is always a great experience to work with Engineered Artworks(@engineered_artworks ), they have an amazing team of fabricators and designers. They are experienced, understand the engineering requirements, and deliver high quality work. The most challenging part about this project was to finish the engineering and permit documents in three days, start to finish, but with all hands-on deck at #Rbhu, we pulled it off. Another, challenge was to work with ...tight restrictions on placing the sculpture on top of a twelve-story tall building. Overall, we are proud to have been a part of this project that will bring joy and happiness to people during this hardship. #TheGenerator Their #Oddie building is a blank #canvas. It was originally a Lowes and has been vacant for many years. When they move to this location in #January they will start from scratch with a large empty warehouse. Luckily all of their years at 1240 Icehouse have shown them what works and what doesn't. #engineeringspotlight Rbhu is proud to have worked closely with Area 15 on their art #sculptures, including one of our favorites, the Oddwood Tree. There were two main challenges with this project: getting the proper information from the #manufacturer in China during their Covid19 lockdown, and preparing the #engineering documents for permit in a short period of time. Nevertheless, we did it! We thank Area 15 for giving us this opportunity to play a small part in this amazing... #interactive art mecca!
