The Humboldt County Eviction Prevention Program is administered by the Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services and will pay for missed rent or mortgage payments to income-qualified households with prior rent or mortgage owed since March 2020. Renters and their landlords must complete applications to be considered for this program. The funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis while funding lasts. Each qualifying household can receive up to $5,000, which will be paid directly to the landlord or lender. The program is being funded through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) Act. The program will run through Dec. 30, 2020, or until all funding has been distributed.
