Stay alert along the trails. They are now out and about.The American River Parkway provided me with this beautiful 4 footer this morning. Haven't seen one with ...this many buttons in a while. Be careful on your hikes and I hope you are as fortunate as I was. I was searching for ticks (which I was abe to find) but my dog noticed this guy for me. Very Cool. Too bad I only had my cell phone. Would have enjoyed getting some close-ups. See more

PSA. Stay Alert! Rattlesnakes are emerging from hibernation and are starting to make an appearance in nearby areas -- if you see a snake, back away slowly and give it a lot of space. Often you can hear a snake before you see it, so stay aware and stay safe.

Poor poor snake.... I bet that was a foul taste!
