Our client didn't want a space that sacrificed a natural, planted landscape feel for an expanse of boring featureless deck. @rarefieldsf designed and built an expanded deck punctuated by greenery and interesting feature elements like a concrete seat wall that creates separation between spaces while connecting the overarching lines of the design, a patio to take in the view or enjoy a quiet conversation, and a deck large enough for lounging or dining. In time, a hedge will provide privacy without obscuring views, and the existing cinderblocks will become a green wall of climbing fig. The meadow will mature and shrubs will provide both structure and hiding spots for playful children
