The 2018 Nithya is probably the most ‘serious’ Glug Glug wine I’ve ever made. This 100% Cabernet Franc from the organically farmed Massa Vineyard in Carmel Valley is a structured, fuller-bodied red wine that we've intentionally held in reserve for a year. I’ve been enjoying it more and more with the change of season. I didn’t make very much of either wine, so grab a few before they’re gone. And get free shipping on 6 bottles.
Two is better than one. So I am closing out 2021 with 2 exciting Glug-Glug wines. What is a glug glug wine? "Wine is a beverage you drink with food and friends. These wines are made in that spirit. They are made to DRINK! Simple, delicious, straightforward, but still with IDENTITY! This is Glug Glug." Make sure you're on our mailing list to hear about the two new glug glug wines being released TOMORROW.... Every vintage I challenge myself to produce an exciting and ever-changing range of easy-drinking wines (vins de soif). These wines are fresh, fun, affordable and highly drinkable. I refer to them as Glug-Glug wines, as in the sound of a bottle being emptied quickly.

People often ask Raj - What wines are you most excited about? "Right now it's the Anika Mourvedre from our Fall Club Shipment - it is possibly the last one we'll make. This shipment exemplifies fall and what it means."

"The wines are all in barrel now - just resting. I won't touch them until spring - probably not until April." - Raj #handsoffwinemakers

Inspired by the Syrahs of Thierry Allemand in Cornas, this cold-climate treasure is our fourth vintage of Anika ‘sans soufre’ Syrah. Harvested from forty-year-old, biodynamically farmed vines at Bien Nacido’s X-Block, Anika Syrah is 100% native yeast fermented with no additions or manipulations. The grapes are fermented 100% whole-cluster in large concrete vats. This old school approach creates intensely lifted aromatics of earth, spice, and fruit. Structurally, the wine has great architecture from the old vines, whole-clusters, and aging in neutral Puncheon, and strikes the perfect balance between elegance, finesse, and power. Click link in bio to learn more about the 2018 Anika Syrah.

This time of year is a moment of reflection, of celebrating the annual harvest bounty, giving thanks and beginning the process again. "Now we give back to the vineyard and Mother Nature in thanks" says Raj. "The vines already know what they're going to produce next year as they go into their dormancy and take rest. The dormant period is very special."

Now that the wines are settled in and resting Raj reflected on this year's harvest. "This was clearly one of the most interesting vintages we've seen. 2011 is the only vintage I can compare this year to and back then, we were still experimenting. This year we know what we're doing. The crop was beautiful, great tannins. We weren't rushed and filled the cellar slowly from early September to mid October."
Our Fall Wine Club boxes will ship on November 30th. Raj has crafted three wines that can be enjoyed together, over the course of an evening and a multi-course meal - The Romance Chardonnay, the Anika Syrah and Anika Mourvèdre. We look forward to sharing these wines with you. To join the wine club, head over to our site.

As a kid in Calcutta Raj grew up eating around a bustling dining table at his Grandmother's home, filled with fresh dishes and family. Raj can often be found in the winery kitchen cooking lunch for the team, including chicken, rice, cabbage and curry sauces. His favorite pairing for this comfort food? A light and harmonious syrah or grenache.

Excited to see the new book from one of my favorite Paris spots @septimeparis @clamato #septimebook
"I think a wine that shows classic characteristics of the place is 'authentic' wine. And this wine must be made with the lowest level of manipulations (organic grapes, no additives, etc.)." Raj shared with Karen MacNeil (@karenmacneilco) from Winespeed. See story for link to the full conversation.

Noir + Blanc + Gris. Grenache!
SCYTHIANS Up close and personal. I asked talented photographer - and wine club member - @andrewthomaslee to try and capture my wines in a new and different way. The color, the viscosity, and the motion that resulted is so immersive. For me, it represents a new and exciting way to look at wine. Check out Andrew's incredible work at the link in bio and visit rajparrwineclub.com to grab a bottle of SCYTHIANS!
TODAY is the day! Our newest Glug Glug wine, the 2019 Scythians Palomino, is available for purchase at the link in bio. I am always on the hunt for delicious wines to sip as I work away in the kitchen, preparing dinner. Everybody needs something in their glass to ease out of the work day and into the evening. The unapologetic juiciness of this supremely textural white wine, made from the Palomino grape, is just the wine for these moments. Every wine I make is the frui...t of inspiration and friendship, and Scythians is no different. I should begin the story here in California with my good friends @christinarasmussen_ and @scholiumwines. Last year, on the precipice of harvest Christina heard about a biodynamic farm near Fresno that grew Palomino (@marianfarmsbiodynamic). Inspired by the dry, unfortified Palominos of @bodegascota45, I decided to give it a go. What I love about this wine is that it has both weight and texture, but neither come from oak. The juiciness in this wine comes from the grape itself. We can't always and only drink zippy, high-acid wines. There is a time and a place for something a bit richer...and THAT is why I made Scythians. See more
...and then we pressed it. #savagninvert
Positively luminous Savagnin Vert from @phelanfarms. The unknowns outweigh the knowns. The questions outnumber the answers. This is how we grow.

First pick for bubbles. 2020 commences.
Super excited to share a new video for my newest wine. Nothing goes better with Zinfandel than a burger. The 2018 Raahi Zinfandel is available on the site now. Sourced from 100+ year-old vines and only 42 cases produced. https://youtu.be/Cp6czYUrswU
