Because we are NOT technicians, we are technologists. Did you know that many Radiologic Technologists have their associates, bachelors, and even master degre...es? We value our education and the path it takes for us to become certified Radiologic Technologists. **Image found in Introduction to Radioloigc Sciences and Patient Care by Arlene Adler & Richard Carlton.**
Letters from the presidents of ASRT state affiliates have appeared in newspapers from Tucson to Toledo, Minnesota, Michigan, West Virginia, South Carolina, Flor...ida, Maine and Oregon. The letters highlight the role of radiologic technologists as essential providers in the battle against COVID-19. Thanks for spreading the word! https://bit.ly/2YMWtK1 See more
Just sharing something I read on another page Well said I am a Radiologic Technologist, commonly referred to as an X-ray Tech. I am not a photographer.... My professional credentials do not consist of a little certificate. When you allow me to x-ray you, you are allowing me to apply ionizing radiation to your body. What’s ionizing radiation you ask???... It’s radiation that is so strong that it can (and will) knock electrons out of the atoms in the human body. So allowing me to take your x-ray is granting me permission to make changes to your body on the cellular, molecular, and atomic level in order to produce diagnostic images (not photographs). My professional credentials do not consist of a little certificate. A little certificate is something a 4th grader would receive when they successfully read 20 books in a school year. An x-ray technologist holds licensure through the state’s Emergency Management Agency and/or Department of Nuclear Safety. That licensure deems the x-ray technologist qualified to safely and professionally expose the public to a dose of radiation that essentially causes changes to the DNA of human cells. I would sincerely hope you would want this exam to be performed on you by a highly trained perfessional, and not just anyone with a little certificate that knows how to work a camera. Also, please remember, the x-ray technologist also accepts the possibility of exposing themselves to that same ionizing radiation and causing those same cellular changes in their own body every day when they clock in for work. #ProudRadTech See more
ARRT TO DISCONTINUE P CREDITS FOR R.R.A.S Published on 05/01/2020 ARRT will stop accepting P credits from Registered Radiologist Assistants (R.R.A.s) for activi...ties completed on or after Jan. 1, 2023. We use the term P credits for activities awarded Category 1 credit by the American Medical Association, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, American Academy of Physician Assistants, or American Academy of Family Physicians. We created the P credit category when the R.R.A. credential was new because there weren’t enough A+ credits approved by RCEEMs or state licensing agencies at the time. Now there are many alternatives. In addition, the number of R.R.A.s submitting P credits is declining.
Saluting radiologic technologists, our frontline heroes.
$500 grants from the ASRT to members. In response to the coronavirus and how it has affected ASRT members, the ASRT Foundation has created the ASRT Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund to aid ASRT members currently experiencing hardships. $100,000 has been designated to start this fund. Eligible applicants will receive a one-time $500 grant on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are no longer available.... Apply....
