It is my belief that no matter the evidence presented to us, how we feel about things matters more. Education is essential for discernment, however education remains fluid. Learning "A thing" allows us to be marginally proficient at that thing BUT the other complexities of the thing are still there for exploration. I am a fan of standard education as I feel that it serves as a foundation for exploration of a subject matter. I am a bigger fan of clinical experience as I feel... it expands that foundation and allows for more detailed knowledge. Feelings are theories that have yet to be proven. Allowing ourselves to explore what we feel and the factual evidence of our feelings serves as a a barrier between facts and misinformation. Feelings always have an emotional relationship. Facts are provable.

Oh man! We FINALLY got to shoot our bows in the mountains! It is #funaf we could spend hours doing this! I left the natural sound on the video because of the sound it makes when you hit the target. We took shots from different angles and different distances. This was Sofa King fun!

Happiness is finding your human. It’s Valentines Day but this ain’t one of those sappy love posts. On our drive to the mountains on Friday my wife and I talked about how much people miss opportunities by trying to make other people happy. I believe that when you find the person(s) that allow you to feel good about life you should never look for reasons to not be around them.... This is Black history month and I have noticed a trend with my own people of not being tolerant of some merely because of skin color. We have been conditioned to think that because a person is of a certain skin tone that they cannot be trusted. We talk about unity when the intolerance is present in a system and stoked by the refusal to accept individuality. Love is blind, mostly because the feeling of love comes from the heart. You cannot control love but you can definitely allow feelings to ignore that love. Fear and influence keeps us from loving as deeply as we can. We fear the things that we don’t understand yet we claim to seek understanding. We cannot love unconditionally nor blindly with preconceived notions, as those things serve as barriers to the heart. I believe that I am fortunate to have allowed myself to accept love from all humans as it has brought me to an understanding that I am my happiest when I can express and feel love. Find the human(s) that make you feel the very best in life and love them as hard as you possibly can. Happy Valentines Day! Black History is American history! The first goal of training is to do no harm. Years ago when I first started training, if you had said mobility to me I would have answered WTF is that. Evolution and education has brought me to a place of understanding that we MUST setup the body for the work intend to do. This post says "Mobility" but should also include the word "Stability" in it. Creating a stable body with the ability/mobility to move safely through the positions that we put it through is crucial. I do m...obility movements at the beginning and end of my training sessions that relate to what I’m training. I do take one day a week specifically for Mobility and Stability movement for total body. When you are in good condition your training is less of a struggle. Last year I broke a toe which caused me to not be able to run. Running had always been a challenge until I learned proper mechanics and then it became pleasurable. Because I couldn’t run and I wanted to stay conditioned for running I began Rucking. I also leaned on cycling and rowing until I was able to run again. Conditioning is one of those things that you lose if you don’t do, but when you are in good cond...ition the sky is the limit. I vary my conditioning days and methods so that my body has to adapt. What is your favorite method for conditioning? -Like it -Tag it -Share it GET SOME!!!!

Been studying a lot these days the effects of nasal breathing on our health. One of the the things that continues to resonate with me is More is not better, Better is better. Heavy mouth breathing in an attempt to get more oxygen is not better than controlled nasal breathing. Actually the air we breathe through our mouth is like drinking water directly from a stream, whereas nasal breathing is that good ole reverse osmosis filtered stuff. Which do you prefer for your body?... Back to the mo better thang. We have a tendency to want the whole goddamn cake when a slice is sufficient. Meaning if you just started with your breathing practice STOP tryna outdo other people and examine how you are doing. Cardio with a taped mouth can be done by anyone at any their level. If you feel like you want to rip the tape off to breathe, slow the pluck down. I have started to sleep with my mouth taped and from my own personal experience I can tell you that I fall asleep faster, sleep deeper, & my morning breath is less stanky! -If you need help or want advice for how to seamlessly add a breathing practice to your lifestyle GET AT ME!!! There’s a term for people who are at home in the hills, we call them "Mountain Man". Doc J is the epitome of the term mountain man because he and his wife have spent a large part of their lives exploring the mountains. Oh but that’s not all, his shirt says "Death Race" his IG handle "SpartanDoc", you'd be a fool to challenge this guy ESPECIALLY if you are unprepared. This was my morning cardio session yesterday and I loved every minute of it! Over the weekend we got about 1.5 feet of snow. Yesterday I had to dig out a path to leave which presented me with a 45min session of Fasted Cardio at elevation! I have become a huge proponent of a functional life. I’m reminded by history that early man was able to stay FIT without ever stepping foot in a gym. ... Listening is a learned art.... One of the reasons why I chose to get involved in the political arena is because I’ve listened to "The People" saying the same thing while being unable to hear each other because of the lack of listening. I believe that this is because we have not trained ourselves to listen correctly. The first step in the process is being able to listen to one’s self. We talk a big game about the spiritual, mental, and physical self but do we really know how ...to hear those things .... Hearing the trifecta means that you have an understanding of how to keep those things in balance because extremism in any direction offsets balance. So until we have an honest understanding of self why would we assume for others .... assuming is not listening. My body needed a bit of rehab after the campaign experience. Here I found some of my favorite trees to connect with. This weekend has been a lot about simple things like this. ~ Coach Q

I have posted several pictures of the "Eye of God" since we invested in a property in Big Bear almost 4 years ago. Our first weekend we bought a dream catcher from one of the local gift shops and I asked the owner for a good meditation place. She told us about the Eye and it’s Native American history. We've seen some pretty incredible things and had beautiful experiences at the Eye of God. 3 years of visiting the eye we would always comment on a steep hill that is on the oppo...site side of the entrance to Eye of God. Our fitness side wanted to crush that hill and when we finally did we discovered the most amazing Juniper tree sitting alone on top of that hill. Now for the spiritual, Shaman, witch stuff. If you Zoom in on Pic-5 you can see a direct line from The Tree to The Eye. I'm sitting on a large Quartz stone shaped like a chair. I am a believer in the spiritual and I can only speak from my personal experience, the power contained in this place is unreal.

I discovered Coach Brett B’s social media platforms a couple years ago and the dude just resonated with me. I would listen to his podcast on my drive to LA weekly and started reaching out to have a conversation with him. Fast forward, I hired Brett as the communications advisor to my campaign for Mayor. Today I’m really missing the mountains. Investing in property in the mountains 3 years ago was one of the best things I could have done for my soul. I have had the opportunity to go revive in the mountains a few times a month for the past 3 years and it has been glorious. I find that allowing myself to just be, in places like this really puts life in perspective. I could say meditation but it’s beyond that. For now I will go with Feel....
