feeling nostalgic AF as addy’s birthday approaches. her birth was raw, dirty, loud, bloody and the most beautifully savage experience of my life. all the not knowing, the fear, the surrender. i can smell the hotness of the summer mixed with the cool birth center air like it was hours ago. the sweetness of her tiny body seeping through the metallic fluids around her. i can still feel the safety in everyone’s touch as they held me through her birth. that touch defines me, still.... there’s a haze over it but i can still see myself standing there beside the birthing me, naked, covered in dirt wearing a crown of bleeding antlers-setting fire to all of my pain-myself as the crone guiding me through transition, as i transitioned to mother. mother again. it was the me and the her, addy, and every birthing person before me and after me standing there in the fire. feeling her rip through my body was the most horrifyingly beautiful and primal and satisfying and saturated thing i’ve ever felt. i could live in these moments for forever @fosteringawareness #birth #vbac #vaginalbirthaftercesarean #birthcenter #birthcenterbirth #midwife #doula #birthdoula See more

Podcast Alert! So I’m new to podcasts. I’ve listened to a couple random ones, but don’t quite get the concept. I’ve accepted that they are the modern day radio show. So Alexis Haines is the owner and host of Recovering from Reality. Alexis talked me into coming on her show and I’m so glad I did, it was a lot of fun. Of course I favor the episode I’m in, and it’s all about birth. Check out her other episodes too. https://www.recoveringfromreality.com/

Mother’s Day.. an important day for all women, as none of got here without one. This day can also be a painful one.. for those waiting to be one, for those who have lost one and for those who are struggling to make peace with one. Thank you for enriching my life with your motherly insight. Cheers to us all.

Appointments.. Please use the Rancho exit from the 101 North or South. Though the Moorpark Rd. Exit is still open, the street to the office is closed while the Borderline investigation is wrapping up.

This is the Denson Family's financial support page. Besides financial support, gift cards can be dropped off or mailed to PUSH. <3

One of our families has lost everything in the fire that destroyed their home. We are collecting gift cards to assist this family get on their feet. Whole Foods, Sprouts, Lassens Market, Gap kids, Amazon, anything that can help to purchase adult and children's clothing, diapers, food, home supplies and quick healthy meals. They have two little boys. The birth center is the drop off location, and cards can be mailed as well. Please PM if you would like additional information.

We proudly support and honor Black Breastfeeding week! This post is shamefully late due to me being sick but not forgotten! In our culture black babies are dying at twice the rate of white babies. It’s a reminder that the lack of diversity among lactation consultants needs a new narrative. It’s a time to remember that our non white women tend to fall through the cracks, are invisible and are not given the care and support they deserve. Drawing attention to these facts inspire me to be a better provider to a community of women who need it most. Barriers against breastfeeding are enormous. For women of color, even more so. Educate and celebrate

I was thrilled to see this article today, in The Los Angeles Times. As midwives, we are amused to these articles, as these "revelations" are not new found info. It's nice to put these articles out as they surface, to help educate. So once again.. The U.S has too many cesareans. Find a midwife, and demand change for yourself and those we are raising to bring forth the next generation of humanity.

No matter how your baby is born, you are a warrior. You are a strong and capable mother who gave birth to your baby. Don’t let any other thought be acceptable. You did it. You grew a tiny human. And delivered her safely into your arms. Don’t forget it.

This is a cause near and dear to my heart, and though it's far away, please support this group of women, who work so hard to give to so many women who need support. My St. Louis birth worker friends hard at work <3
