National Veterinary Technician Week is the perfect time to highlight the different roles within the veterinary hospital. Registered Veterinary Technicians (or RVTs) are sometimes called Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) in some areas. These technicians have attended technical schools and passed the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam) to obtain their licenses. In order to renew these licenses each year, these technicians are required to complete continued education... courses. Registered/Licensed technicians are allowed to do specialized tasks such as induce anesthesia, intubate patients, apply casts and splints, extract teeth, and more. Technician assistants (often referred to as veterinary assistants) are able to assist with these procedures by holding and restraining the patients. #vettechweek #vettechlife #vettech #veterinarymedicine #veterinarytechnician
It's National Veterinary Technician Week! Veterinary technicians play many crucial roles when it comes to the care of your furry family members! Vet techs are nurses, radiology techs, lab techs, pharmacy techs, surgical assistants, anesthetists, dental hygienists, phlebotomists, and so much more! Our vet techs love your animals as if they were their own and supply endless kisses, cuddles, and treats. Veterinary medicine would absolutely not be possible without our vet techs- ...they are the heart and soul of our practice! Take a minute to thank the vet techs in your life, and even better, get them some coffee! They will appreciate it more than you know! Happy 4th of July!
Dogs pant to help keep themselves cool, especially during warm weather. But when your dog's panting becomes excessive or abnormal, it may cause some alarm and might warrant a trip to the vet. You can learn more about dog panting here:

REMINDER: Please do not exercise your pets in the heat of the day. When the temperature outside is 75 degrees, the asphalt temperature can be 125 degrees. Test ...the asphalt temperature by placing the back of your hand to the ground for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your dog's paws. See more
