There’s a few things in life that makes us lose our calm. Bad break up, getting cut off, or even missing a yoga class. For Brandi Healy? DO NOT mention the Houston Astros! LOL A Long Beach native and #pyspring2020 graduate, Brandi began her yoga practice with the intention of strengthening her body. Over time, it became the practice she turned to strengthen her soul. Yoga became something much more for me. Between my job, kids and overall life, it really helped me understan...d how out of balance I was with a lot of things, said Brandi She began to experience the profound connection between somatic movement and consciousness. It was this connection that compelled her to share this practice with others. And it was her ability to connect with others that compelled Director Joe Vogt to hire her as an instructor. Brandi has an innate ability to connect with people. She’s real, she’s funny, she’s goofy, she’s herself. And through it all, you can sense a driving passion behind her craft. We’d like to give a shout out to all the young adult volunteers working at poll voting stations throughout LA & OC!!! Voting stations have been traditionally worked by elderly volunteers but due to COVID-19, that would put them at risk for serious complications. But this year thousands of young adults, many of whom can’t even vote, have signed up to fill the void and make a difference.... Change usually is new but sometimes it can be familiar. We welcome back Amanda McKinley! Part of our very first teacher training class and a Purple instructor from years past, we spoke with Director Joe Vogt on what it means to have her back. Amanda was part of our very first teacher training class in 2010 and taught with us for a few years. She was an easy hire because she has the right skillset and character trait of being fearlessly willing to share herself in a ro...om with a bunch of strangers. Simply put, she has something to say. She stopped teaching to focus on her career in advertising and I wasn’t surprised to learn how successful she was with it. She’s just a leader... Then 2020 hit and everyone’s world was upside down. We started auditioning for teachers and when she reached out, it was just all perfect timing. She immediately she proposed a YOGA 101 workshop and it’s like we never left off. She’s just a leader.
