Prospect Wrestling

Congrats to Mike Amaro for placing 2nd in CCS and becoming the first Prospect wrestler to qualify for boys state since 2010! Furthermore, Mike accomplished this feat while injured - having wrestled with a torn meniscus. Also congrats to Grace Catton who placed 8th in girls state! Grace became only the second state placer from Prospect since 2008.

Prospect finishes BVAL with 2 JV finalists. Congrats to Sam Conor and Collin Ferguson for both taking 2nd place in league. For Varsity, injuries prevent most from qualifying for CCS as 3 out of 4 varsity wrestlers end their season with injuries. This did not stop them from working hard and competing anyway. Freshman Scotty Amaro and senior Leo Powers both finish with knee injuries to end their CCS runs prematurely. Senior Mike Amaro is the last male wrestler with a hardship match this coming week. Proud of all the hard work that was put in this season. Win or lose, they fight like champions.

Strong finish for the first day of CCS. Veronica Coppolino, Yume Weissman, and Grace Catton are undefeated for day 1! Syania Santana battling back in consolation. Looking to bring home some hardware and qualify for the state meet. Time to earn it on day 2!

Another year and another very successful Jim Root tournament in the books. This year was the biggest the tournament has ever been with even more tough teams and competition! We are also proud to have hosted the very first ever Kusumoto Klassic named after all-american alumni Kelly Kusumoto herself! This was a very successful weekend for the panthers as many of them were able to showcase their hard work and dedication at their home tournaments. Congratulations to Veronica Copp...olino for winning the Kusumoto Klassic and being named outstanding wrestler for girls. Also congrats to Mike Amaro for winning Jim Root for the 3rd year in a row! Thanks to all of the parents and volunteers that helped these events function all weekend, we greatly appreciate your help. Also thank you to Betty Root for your never-ending support. Congrats to all the Prospect wrestlers that competed this weekend at the Webber Lawson tournaments. For JV, Scott Amaro went 2-1 to take his second silver medal while Bradley Caradona went 2-2 to take 4th place. For Varsity, Mike Amaro and Leo Powers both went 4-1 to claim 2nd and 7th place respectively. Prospect also finished in the top 20 out of almost 50 teams despite only having two participants on Saturday! Great job to all wrestlers for their hard work!
