Five Element METAL Constitution: Leaders in the herd. The horses like order. They are aloof and independent. They are quiet, confident and consistent. When unbalanced Metal types can get nasal congestion/discharge, upper airway infections, cough, heaves, asthma or other airway disease. They may also get constipation. Metal horses are steady, reliable athletes, that definitely like their routine.
Five Element EARTH Constitution: This is the mothering personality, just what you want in a school pony!! They are relaxed and easy going. Friendly and very sweet. Slow moving but tolerant, humble and kind. When unbalanced Earth types can worry excessively, get obese, have diarrhea, constipation or colic. They can have weakness of limbs and muscle atrophy. They can have edema, gum/lip problems, chronic bleeding and rectal or uterine prolapse. This horse is what you want for your 5 year old!
Five Element FIRE Constitution: easily excited, extroverted, friendly & playful, sensitive, hard to calm down. Enjoy attention/physical contact. They run fast but easily fatigue, more of a sprinter. When unbalanced Fire types can be hyperactive with Shen disturbance or behavior issues. Separation anxiety and restlessness . Cardiovascular disease, ulcers on the tongue, chest pain , stroke. Dr. Rydgig has often found chestnut horses to have a Fire Constitution.

Horses of WW1 - https://www.stableexpress.com/ His legs were broke, his wounds did bleed, The soldier called him ‘Noble Steed’, And put a bullet through his br...ain. Then the soldier kneeling down, Bent his head and cried, ‘You were the noblest beast of all, Did your duty - answered the call’, And I am filled with grateful pride Through all the charges you carried me, And never did you falter. Though bullets whistled past your side, And many men and horses died, Your pace would never alter. And so my friend this isgoodbye, I’ve done my best for you, I’ve sent you to a safer place, Where horses graze in gentle grace, And wish I could go too. Then in the sky above all noise, He heard a singing lark. He felt it was an Angel’s song, And knew his life would not be long, As the sniper’s bullet hit its mark. They found them lying side by side, A soldier and his noble Steed, What sacrifice by man and beast, Too high a price to pay for peace, More than God and Man agreed. We are so excited to welcome Dr. Kate Barber to the Progressive Equine Family as our new associate! Many of you have met Dr. Barber as she has been volunteering and working at the practice since she was 18. She will be starting with us on July 27th and you will start seeing her with us at the barns. Please make her feel welcome. See her bio below to get to know her better. Dr. Kate Barber obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in animal science with an emphasis in neurology,... physiology and behavior from the University of California at Davis. She then attended Ontario Veterinary College in Canada, graduating in 2019. Kate went on to complete a rigorous internship at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital, a referral clinic in Bonsall, California. Here she gained a wide variety of skills, with an emphasis in sports medicine and surgery. Kate returned to Ventura county, near her home town of Moorpark, where she grew up riding and competing in hunters and jumpers. She is excited to pursue her passion of ambulatory equine medicine. Outside of work, Kate enjoys long runs with her dog, trail riding with her friends, spending time with family, and reading a good book by the beach. She also enjoys traveling and exploring new areas.

Never good to find a nail in your horses foot. Call your Vet right away. Leave the nail in if it can’t go in any further so that we can take an X-ray. If you need to pull out, save the nail and pay attention to where it went in and what angle it went in.
Chase was a little colicky today

We are a community of individuals who are committed to advancing the cause of veterinary acupuncture. She has been a certified acupuncturist for 20 years and a Fellow in the Academy for 4 years. https://www.fda.gov//faq-covid-19-and-ivermectin-intended-
You may have seen posts on your newsfeed that encourage the use of ivermectin to treat COVID-19, after the announcement of a research article that described the... effect of ivermectin on the virus in a laboratory setting. Please note that ivermectin was not given to people or animals in this study, and additional testing is needed to determine whether ivermectin might be safe or effective to prevent or treat coronavirus. You should NOT try to self-medicate by taking ivermectin products intended for animals, thinking it can be a substitute for the prescription-only drug intended for humans. Due to potentially elevated interest in ivermectin following the new research, some products may not be available. If you are having difficulty locating a particular ivermectin product for your animal(s), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends that you consult with your veterinarian. #aaep #equinevets #horsedoctors #veterinarymedicine #covid19 #ivermectin
