One of the most common things I hear from patients is my hamstrings are always tight, that’s just normal for me... Our anatomical systems cannot be looked at in isolation. It’s important to understand that every system in our body works together to form a complex machine we call our body. #physicaltherapy #rehab #rehabilitation #sandiego #health #sandiegofitness @ San Diego, California

Let’s talk healing times! . . I get asked this question daily, and though it varies person to person and injury to injury this is a good guideline posted by @dr.caleb.burgess .... . Everyone wants to be better NOW, but this isn’t realistic. Tissue healing takes TIME. We can’t rush it. And it’s important to understand that tosses heal at different rates depending on their physical makeup and blood supply, among other things. Additional contributing factors, such as diabetes, age, poor nutrition, inadequate rest, etc can further delay the healing process . . This chart shows the AVERAGE range of healing times for various tissues in the body, including different grades of tissue injury for muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It can serve as a guide but also a reminder that we can’t force our bodies to heal faster than physiologically possible . . What we can do is OPTIMIZE the healing process by rehabbing appropriately, eating high quality food, getting adequate rest, and staying PATIENT and POSITIVE throughout the journey. See more

IASTM = Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization . . This manual therapy technique utilizes stainless steel tools to massage/gently scan and treat the skin. Using different types of treatment strokes IASTM can address numerous different soft tissue conditions .... . Goals: -help identify areas of restriction -break up scar tissue and/or fascia restrictions (common with trauma such as a strained muscle, pulled ligament, tendon, or fascia) -reduce tension by stretching connective tissue - this attempts to rearrange the structure of the soft tissue being treated -promote better healing environment for injured soft tissue -neurologically it can help activate certain nerve fibers and body position sense receptors . . Benefits of IASTM in rehab: -decrease overall treatment time -lead to faster recovery -reduce need for anti-inflammatory medications . . If you want to learn more- feel free to contact Priority Care Physical Therapy and get the treatment you deserve . . #physicaltherapy #sandiego #rehabilitation #sandiegofitness #sandiegorehab #recovery #wellness #painfree #iastm #manualtherapy #physicaltherapistsandiego See more
