This is a long, difficult process that requires a lot of knowledge on how to properly perform this test to NFPA standards. This saves our city and taxpayers from contracting these services out to other qualified professionals! We take pride in providing these services and saving our city money. Traffic collision today near Twin Peaks and Budwin lane. A diesel fuel tank was punctured and dropped its contents on the street. Crews were able to rapidly mitigate the fuel to prevent it from entering the storm drain. We also used plug and dike to stop the leak. @sandiegocityfirefighters Hazmat 2 team did a great job draining the rest of the fuel from the tank and helping us dispose of the hazardous waste. Poway city works department also assisted us with the clean up. Great work by all!! #poway #powayfirefighters #powayfire #hazmat2

Second structure fire today in Poway. Large fire in an upstairs apartment building. The fire was attacked quickly with an offensive strategy and contained to the unit of origin. All occupants got out safely and the other 3 adjacent units were evacuated with minimal damage. Boys this is a working fire we got flames through the roof reported on dispatch. View of truck 3773s response to the scene. Yes the box beat us out of the bay but not the pumper. Additional footage will be uploaded as it is available. Crews did an outstanding job with aggressive roof and interior ops holding the fire to the vehicle bay. Several trench cuts were placed on the roof while crews stretched large lines interior. About 10 minutes after arrival and roof collapse c...rews switched to a defensive operation using exterior and master stream lines keeping the fire in check to the auto bay and second trench cut. Two personnel were evaluated for minor injuries and are expected to return after a few short days of recovery. Our condolences to business owner for their loss and great appreciation for the many thanks they gave us for our hard work on a well involved fire on arrival. If you have outside video/photos you can contacts us to share it. Crews arrived shortly after 354am with heavy fire involvement of the kitchen, living room, and garage. Your first in crew from fire station one pulled a large 2 1/2 inch hose line to attack the main body of fire. With two cars at the residence and no occupants accounted for th...e next in truck company was assigned to perform a vent enter search of the occupancy for residents. This is performed without a hoseline by entering a room isolating the room by closing the door and searching that portion of the residence for victims. This is a very high risk low occurrence operation. Typically the engine crew will search the residence as they advance their hoseline to the fire but collapse at the entry way and the large volume of fire prevented this. All uninvolved portions were searched for occupants with no victims found. In all four hose lines were utilized by crews to knock down the fire. Cause is still under investigation.

Here is one of our paramedic interns R. Mullen from @palomarcollege. He is giving his crew a pathophysiology class on Covid-19 and how we treat it in the field. These students have finally been cleared for their paramedic internships where they run calls for a minimum of 22 shifts. They are tested daily and must put on classes to prove their knowledge to the crews and paramedic preceptors. They will not pass internship until crews trust them with the lives of their own family members.
