Multicultural Undergraduate Summer Internship Supported by a grant from the J. Paul Getty Trust An internship is available for a student to work full-time at th...e Pomona College Museum of Art for a ten-week period between June and August 2018. The Getty internship is intended for members of groups currently under-represented in museums and the visual arts, particularly individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent. The internship will specifically focus on assisting the Academic Curator in developing robust programming that broadens the awareness and impact of the arts as an interdisciplinary tool. The intern’s responsibilities will include working with the Academic Curator and the curatorial staff in a variety of tasks related to building relationships with artists, activators and disruptors across the country and integrating their practices with the museum’s upcoming exhibitions and permanent collection. The intern will attend four events sponsored by the Getty Trust during the internship period and will be required to submit a detailed report at its conclusion. REQUIREMENTS: Applicants are not required to have previous museum experience, but must be currently enrolled undergraduates who will have completed one semester of college by June 2016. Seniors may apply. Interns must be residents of, or attending college in, the Los Angeles area. Previous Pomona College Museum of Art Getty interns are not eligible for consideration. The internship carries a stipend of $5,500, which is subject to payroll taxes.
