Advancements being made at Cal Poly SLO towards implementing a hemp program. The students have spoken and the administration is listening. It's time to unlock the full potential of central coast hemp production and allow universities to pave the way for the industry through research and development. University of Virginia has been researching the phytoremediation properties of Hemp for land reclamation in Southwest Virginia where the soil quality and fertility has been devastated by poor land management and exhaustive mining. They partnered with a biotechnology company, 22nd Century, to utilize genetically modified Hemp plants to restore and replenish the containmentated soil.
