Unity: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Limited editions of this poster are available for purchase! https://plotnetprints.com/poster/community-by-manual/ CommUnity' limited edition poster designed by Manual for AIGA | the professional association for design, San Francisco Design Week and Mucho... Designers: Manual Country: USA Manual is a design and branding studio based in San Francisco. We help our clients express themselves and their products through iconic brand identities and beautiful experiences. Our work strives to clarify purpose, build meaning, and stir up curiosity and emotion. We are an intentionally small, independent team of designers and art directors. We specialize in building identities, by working with clients early on to help them define their brand and partnering all the way through execution across key touchpoints. We also work with global brands on special projects and initiatives that demand fresh creative thinking. We believe that a successful relationship is born out of collaboration and partnership. We listen to our clients carefully and dig deep to understand their objectives and audience. We are in constant pursuit of differentiation. We want our clients to stand out, not just fit in. We have a carefully selected network of expert individuals who we partner with to meet the specific needs of a project, including writers, strategists, photographers, animators, filmmakers, and creative technologists. This approach allows us to stay nimble while delivering world-class creative. We keep it in the family and work collaboratively with our clients and partners.

Community is where you find it, and as a studio we spend lots of time together working collectivelyand yet left to our own devices, we all have our own distinct ticks and angles. So with this poster, we celebrate that by parsing out a phrase (All Together Now) into letters that were individually illustrated, then combined for the final piece. Hopefully this can serve as a metaphor for the way all communities benefit by letting people be themselves and embracing the collecti...ve fabric which results. Together, with our cherished clients, we aspire to create work that is smart, functional and handsome, regardless of medium or market.

Unite for the planet Our contribution takes visual cues from the impactful posters and placards seen at protest rallies and manifestations. The pairing of yellow and black borrows from the visual vocabulary of warning signs, alerting the viewer of the gravity of our current situation. The bold letters calling for unity are superimposed with the 'Raised Fist' a symbol of solidarity and support. Ambiguously, the symbol was first used as a logotype by the Industrial Workers of... the World (IWW) in 1917. With industrialisation being the primary factor causing climate change and global warming, the symbol on one hand represents a plea for forceful action, while, by fractioning the underlaying letterforms, indicating that the situation was caused by our own hands. 'Think globally, unite locally' is a rewording of the phrase 'Think globally, act locally' urging people to consider the health of the planet and take action in their communities and cities. In a time when the effects of our destructive impact on the planet is becoming increasingly evident, we need to unite and take action. Mote of Dust This print pays homage to an excerpt from Carl Sagan’s book Pale Blue Dot. Sagan was inspired by an image taken, at his own suggestion, by Voyager 1 on February 14, 1990. As the spacecraft moved towards the outer edges of our solar system, engineers turned it around to gaze upon our tiny planet. Voyager 1 was approximately 4 billion miles away when it captured a portrait of earth, appearing only as a tiny point of light, a pale blue dot. Sagan later profoundly de...scribes in his book just how small we are in the vastness of the cosmos, a community floating on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known. It seems to me Unity is only as good as the idea that it supports. 24,000 flamingos on a repurposed military vessel is my visual response to the inherent conflict between good and bad ideas. I Initially struggled with this brief because on the surface Unity is a wholeheartedly positive thing but delve a little deeper and it is much more complex. Designer: Chris Labrooy Country: United Kingdom ... Limited editions of this poster are available for purchase! https://plotnetprints.com/poster/community-by-chris-labrooy/ CommUnity' limited edition poster designed by Chris Labrooy for AIGA | the professional association for design, San Francisco Design Week and Mucho After graduating from the RCA with an MA in design products, Chris first began to use 3D as a simple tool to visualize ideas for furniture and products. As 3D technology and hardware evolved, Chris saw an opportunity to explore CGI as a creative medium in itself with which he could subvert and twist familiar everyday things into new typographic and sculptural forms. Chris is interested in the intersection between typography, architecture, product design, and visual art. Based in Scotland, Chris LaBrooy’s unique work can be seen across the UK, Europe, and the United States for advertising, editorial, and publishing. His clients include Apple, Porsche, Nike, Jaguar, AT&T, Citroen, British Airways, Time Magazine, Mcdonalds, T-Mobile, Transport For London, Ted Baker, Target, Prudential Callaway Golf.
