During the night, we received a call about some baby turkeys who’d fallen down a storm drain. Luckily Officer Kuhn and his K9 partner Bodie were able to respond and rescue all the separated turkeys. Mama turkey seemed relieved and headed out into the night. We feel fortunate to assist in calls like this as an agency. Our non-emergency line 925-288-4600.

ATTENTION BIKE OWNERS!! We are now utilizing BikeIndex.org as a resource for our community to register their bicycles. Bike Index is a non-profit organization that maintains a database that can be searched to determine if a bicycle is lost or stolen. We often come across bicycles under suspicious circumstances. By searching Bike Index, our officers and dispatchers are able to determine if the bike is with its rightful owner. The index can be also be searched by anyone to p...revent someone from unknowingly purchasing a stolen bicycle. Often times bike owners do not have the serial number or photo of their bike when making a report. Bike Index is an easy to use site that stores all that information in case a bike is stolen. Of course, we still encourage our community members to report any bicycle theft to the department or should they come across a bike that has been reported stolen. By using Bike Index, we hope to recover more of our community's bikes. For more information on registering your bicycle, visit www.BikeIndex.org.

As your police department, we are committed to a safe and orderly election day and are dedicated to protecting the rights of all of our citizens to engage in the democratic process. Currently, there is no intelligence to suggest that Pleasant Hill will be targeted for any type of election-day protest, demonstration, planned voter intimidation or other activities. R...egardless of this, we recognize the potential for unrest. Consequently, we have developed operational plans to respond to any issues that might arise. While you won’t see us at polling stations unless we are called, we will have many extra officers working the streets to ensure our community’s safety. On October 29, 2014, Police Officer Shaun Diamond succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained the previous day as he and members of the Pomona SWAT team attempted to serve a search warrant. Officer Diamond was the breach officer as the team attempted to make entry into the home in the 100 block of San Marino Avenue in San Gabriel. As they breached the storm door the subject inside opened the main door and fired a single shot from a shotgun, striking Officer Diamond in the back of ...the neck. The shot also wounded the subject's father in the arm. Other officers immediately pulled Officer Diamond to a safe location and he was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where he died early the following morning. The subject was taken into custody at the scene and charged with murder of a police officer with special circumstances. Officer Diamond had served with the Pomona Police Department for eight years and had previously served with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Montebello Police Department. He is survived by his son, daughter, and parents. In February 2015, Downtown Plaza was renamed to Diamond Plaza with unanimous support. In October 2016, I-10 between 57 Freeway and Towne Avenue was renamed Pomona Police Officer Shaun Diamond Memorial Highway. Thank you for your honorable service, Officer Diamond. Rest in peace.

Ten years ago today, Police Officer Chris Wilson was shot and killed assisting officers from the San Diego County Probation Department and United States Marshals Service conduct a compliance check at an apartment complex on the 400 block of South Meadowbrook Drive. The probation officers and deputy marshals had initially gone to the location and knocked on the apartment door. A man opened it and suddenly slammed it shut when he saw the officers, who then kicked the door in an...d arrested the subject. The officers then called the San Diego Police Department for assistance after observing another occupant run into a back bedroom. Officer Wilson and other officers, including a K9, responded to the scene and began searching the apartment when someone opened fire from behind a closed bedroom door. Officer Wilson was struck and fatally wounded and the K9 was also wounded. Despite being under fire, two other officers were able to pull him from the apartment. He was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital where he passed away early the following morning. A man and woman in the bedroom were found dead the following morning at the end of the ensuing standoff. It was determined that the suspect committed suicide. Officer Wilson had served with the San Diego Police Department for 17 years and was assigned to the Southeastern Division. He is survived by his two children. Rest easy, Officer Wilson, we will never forget your sacrifice.
