The Peninsula Crew is big on Valentine’s Day! It’s one of our favorite pup-ular howlidays! From dark chocolate and stamped paw prints for our dog parents to heart covered bandanas for each dog - it was a fun day of red, pink and cute! xoxo

Meet Penny! This sweet Bassett beauty and her family recently moved to the coast and when we heard she was feeling lonely and missing her furry friends from the Peninsula we couldn't jump on the opportunity fast enough to welcome her into our Play and Paws family! After just a few walks together we have heard from her humans that she now waits for us to pick her up by the front door. We just can't get enough of her long velvety ears & sweet snuggles. Here's to many more walkies together Miss Penelope Rose!

It's with a heavy heart that we share with you we've lost a dear old friend and original Play and Paws'er. Our sweet Uma was not herself the last week or so. After a blood test & check up at the vet didn't offer any clarification, her mom scheduled her an ultrasound the following Monday, as her symptoms seemed to worsen through the weekend. Sadly they discovered she was suffering from cancer in her lungs. The tough call was made to end her suffering would have shared this ...news sooner but this took us all by shock and needed some time to accept she was really gone. At 13 years old she sure didn't look or act her age. Up until last week she would still jump in on a fun play sesh at the beach with her buddies. Queen Uma, Girlfriend, little lady we will miss your fiesty bark every time we pass another dog playing fetch, we will miss calling your name for your little legs, flowy black skirt & slow sniffs to catch up with the rest of us, we will miss your sweet kisses when cleaning the stickers out of your paws, most of all will miss how you & your brother Manju, even when off leash always stuck together. He misses you. We'll do our best to keep him company. I know you'll be trailing behind us on the beach each day in spirit. Rest easy sweet Uma See more

All of us are in so many pandemics while actually in a global pandemic and goodness us, are we all spent or what?! We’re presented with daily challenges that truly test the limits, push the boundaries and more often than not we’re crumbling so easily. In all of this heart ache, strife and exhaustion it’s easy to forget what’s good in the world. Not gonna lie, we have those days. The days that we only see the bad. The days we want to throw in the towel and crawl under a rock. ...But! But on a lot of days, we see the good. We see the good most of the time THANKS in large parts to our dogs. Dogs are forever loving, loyal and filled with light. So much light. With that said, one of our dear lights, Lady, a little teeny mutt of perfection needs our help. Lady has been displaying signs of a spinal injury and/or myelopathy. She has an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow to get an MRI and it’s a hefty amount to pay to see a specialist. We’re helping Lady’s mom raise funds to get the care that Lady needs. If you have the means to help, please consider a donation to our GoFundMe campaign for Lady. If you have the time, please consider a share of this campaign. If you have a light of a dog, please by all means give them a HUG and thank them for their unwavering devotion. Ai yai yai. What a world. Helping others helps too. Helping feels good. Please feel good with us. See more

Fort Funston reopened their parking lot today and lucky us, we scored with a ghost town of a romp. BONUS! Maggie is back out with the crew. It was a magical Monday and one heck of a Welcome Back party for Mags!

To add onto our recent post about Covid-19, here are the precautions we are taking to be an active part of flattening the curve: We are practicing social distancing in our private lives. We are keeping on top of our hygiene routines with our transport vehicles and the tools we use. (Multi-surface disinfect wipes and spray bottles of ethyl alcohol were once our friend. They now have become a relative.) We are skipping our favorite dogs parks to avoid mingling with strang...ers. Our hand washing game was already top notch, but hey, we’re stepping that up too by wearing knit work gloves when out and about. (As told to us by a Doggy Parent in the biotech industry, strong knit work gloves have way less chance of transmission of bacteria than latex gloves. Bonus: they’re more environmentally friendly than latex gloves.) We’re kicking our shoes off at pick up and drop off. Our shoes will not see beyond your home’s threshold. We are maintaining our weekly schedule of deep-cleaning everything in our transport vehicles. Shiny and like sparkly new is the way we like it. And, most importantly, we’re doing what we can to stay physically healthy and maintaining a strong immune system. If for whatever reason, we feel any symptoms of ailment, we will inform you all and immediately self-quarantine. Love and health to our Play and Paws family. We’ll get through this like champs, we know it!

We have a new boo in our Peninsula family! Everyone meet Buddy! Buddy is a seven month old Chihuahua/Terrier mutt rescue from the Dogs101 Rescue Group. He’s successfully went through puppy training with a private trainer and will soon be doing companion and emotional support training with our friend Susie of Teeny Dogs. In the meantime, Buddy’s hanging with the gang and loving every second of it. He’s got the cutest hop-skip and keeps all his new pals on their toes with his quick dashing circles. We’re so happy to have him and we’re especially excited about being part of his important work to come.

We like to pretend we’re in West Side Story whenever we venture through our favorite graffiti tunnel. Maria usually being our choice song! ... Maria! Say it loud and there's music playing, Say it soft and it's almost like praying.... Maria, I'll never stop saying Maria! The most beautiful sound I ever heard... Maybe we can get the dogs to snap?! [From L to R: Molly, Fraydel, Tess, Stanley, Maggie, Latka and Coco Bella]

Have you met Tasman!? He's the adorable newest addition to the coastal crew. Tas and his family recently left life in the Colorado mountains and headed 'Westie' for new adventures on the Pacific and we couldn't be more thrilled! He's a bit of a social butterfly and a super mellow fellow. We are looking forward to many more fun outings together. Welcome to the Play and Paws fam Tas!!

We’re celebrating National Mutt Day today with the Peninsula crew doggos: Fraydel, Gracie, Maggie, Molly, Nash, Peppy, Raleigh and Rusty! We may not know what exact breeds make up their DNA history but we do know this. They are certainly made of love and laughs! Hug a mutt today and if you haven’t given the thought of rescue a chance, perhaps today is that day. Yay mutts!
