Thornton Avenue will get a makeover with the Old Town Newark Specific Plan The Old Town Newark Specific Plan (Plan) aims to bring together over 30 years of planning and analysis of Old Town to identify a grand vision that is matched by clear realistic steps for implementation. This Plan will implement long-standing goals for revitalization, including new public spaces, improvements to Thornton Avenue, and opportunities for new multi-family and residential mixed-use development. At the same time, this Plan provides steps to maintain the existing housing stock and avoid displacement of existing residents and businesses. Join us at an online Community Meeting December 2, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. to learn more about the Draft Plan. Visit the project website for more information: tinyurl.com/old-town-newark-specific-plan.

With 101 municipalities in nine counties, the Bay Area is a large and complex region. Is it possible to coordinate long-range transportation, housing, economic, and environmental planning issues into a coordinated plan? Well, that's the idea behind Plan Bay Area 2050. The Association of Bay Area Governments and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission are leading this effort and have recently released the Draft Blueprint for public review and comment. The plan wouldn't supe...rsede local laws and authority, but would identify goals and policies intended to make the Bay Area more equitable for all residents and more resilient in the face of unexpected challenges. See the link below to learn more about the effort and how you can participate and comment, including a virtual meeting opportunity on July 27 for an overview of the Draft Blueprint focused on Alameda County. https://abag.ca.gov/our-work/land-use/plan-bay-area-2050 See more
