ATTENTIONATTENTION Recently, our city has had several thieves target catalytic converters from vehicle’s. The particular vehicle’s of interest by these thieves are usually Toyota Prius’ or Ford Trucks. Crooks steal catalytic converters in exchange for money. Some even can make enough money from committing these crimes to make a living. We are asking and encouraging ALL citizens to report any suspicious activity, such as person’s underneath vehicles with saws (key clue crime is afoot), to help put a stop to these crimes and obtain justice for the victims. Our officer’s are conducting extra patrol in residential neighborhoods with high visibility, along with our Investigations Divisions who are following up on any potential leads. We greatly appreciate your help and cooperation. Stay safe, stay vigilant. -P376

Teamwork makes a dream work. That’s especially true if your dream is to stop dangerous and reckless drivers and you have a team like this. We call it the East County Traffic Enforcement Collaborative and it’s made up of CHP and traffic officers from Brentwood, Oakley, Antioch and Pittsburg PD.We hosted the enforcement effort today between 7am - 11am. We started in the Balclutha Area and Railroad Corridor of Pittsburg and ended on SR Hwy 4 between Lone Tree Way and Camino Diablo/Vasco Rd. A total of 138 citations were issued. We wish it were zero because we want everyone to drive responsibly and make it home safe.Be careful out there! #ppd#pittsburg#trafficenforcement#teamwork#slowdown#drivesafe

Last, night our officers received a Stolen Vehicle Alert for a car traveling eastbound on SR-4 near San Marco Boulevard. We were familiar with the car which was involved in a freeway shooting earlier in the day.PPD officer Wilhite spotted the car on SR-4 and deployed his Star Chase Tracking System. That allowed him to keep a safe distance until other officers arrived. Two people were in the car - the driver was wearing the same clothes as described in the freeway shooting. Both were arrested. #ppd#pittsburg#nightshiftlife#wewillfindyou#teamwork

That is a picture of an old sweater, that just didn’t cut it anymore. It belonged to a man who was in a mental health crisis - our officers were talking to him to see if he needed help. That’s when the unexpected happened. A stranger, who noticed the man on her way into a store, handed our officers a brand new sweater to replace his tattered old one. What an act of kindness! Pittsburg- just full of warm and wonderful people. #ppd#pittsburg#mentalhealthmatters#youarenotalone#randomactsofkindness#community#pittsburgpride

We asked: Why are you driving so fast and recklessly changing lanes? They said: I was trying to get around someone. Makes sense. So did giving them a ticket.

Join us in welcoming 2 new Pittsburg Police Officers!! Tyler Burton: Tyler grew up in Oakley where he attended Freedom High School, playing football and graduating in 2015. Tyler desired a career in law enforcement from the time that he was a young child; wanting to carry on the family tradition. He joined the Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff as an explorer at the age of fourteen. Immediately after graduating high school, Tyler joined the Pittsburg Police Department as a C...ommunity Services Specialist. After five years of service as a CSS, Tyler decided it’s time to pursue his goal of becoming a police officer and attended the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Police Academy, graduating last week! Welcome aboard! Hector Flores: Hector was born and raised in the City of Antioch and attended Antioch High School, graduating in 2012. Hector then went on to Los Medanos College, earning an associate’s degree in Administration of Justice and then onto CSU East Bay where he earned a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Administration. As a young adult, Hector knew he wanted a career within the Criminal Justice system but was unsure what his role would be. He was hired as a Community Services Specialists with the Pittsburg Police Department in 2017 and during his two years of service as a CSS, it strengthened his resolve to become a police officer and he decided Pittsburg was the community where he wanted to spend his career. So glad to have these new members added to our Pittsburg PD family! See more

What a weekend! Your weekend graveyard crew has been hard at work! Officer Marchut conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and got more than he bargained for! The driver was unlicensed, and found to be in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and crack cocaine for sales. Also concealed in the vehicle were two stolen loaded firearms, several types of ammunition and several other items. The suspect was given a free ride to jail. As a reminder, your PPD officers recovered 7 (that’s right, SEVEN) illegally possessed firearms this weekend alone. These are firearms that have been, or likely would have been used against our amazing Pittsburg community to commit violent crimes. Just another way we’re keeping #pittsburgstrong #pewpew #drugs #guns

This evening as day shift officers were heading in to go off duty, a call came out regarding a male subject holding another male at gun point in the Atlantic Avenue area. Officers responded to the area, and were flagged down by witnesses advising the suspect was still on scene. Officers located the suspect within the area and he was safely detained. Video of the incident was provided to officers, which confirmed the suspect in fact brandished a firearm to the victim and fired... one round. Although the firearm wasn’t found immediately on the suspect, K9 Kyra was on scene and knew it was close by. With the utilization of K9 Kyra, she located a loaded firearm in a bush feet away from the suspect. A shell casing was also found nearby on scene. K9’s are definitely a huge asset to police departments, especially our girl K9 Kyra who specializes in locating ammo, firearms, and even bomb detection. Great work, Kyra! We are happy nobody was hurt or injured during the incident. -P376 #ppd #pittsburgpd #k9unit #workingdogs #canipetyourdog #anotherone #pewpew (the photo was taken after the firearm was collected from the debris and rendered safe) See more

The weekend graveyards crew has been very busy this weekend. After a report for shots being fired in a local apartment complex, officers located the suspect and a firearm in a nearby bush he attempted to hide.
