Piedmont Chamber Music Festival

Dear friends, Around this time of year, we are usually brimming with excitement as we announce our artists and programs for the upcoming summer festival. Unfortunately, this year is unlike any other, and we can't hold off the inevitable any longer given the current state of the pandemic and similar moves from arts organizations locally and nationwide, we have decided to suspend our July festival.... This decision is heartbreaking for us because we were especially excited to present this year's festival theme, which we had named "Hindsight is 2020". We spent the early weeks of last fall developing three programs based on themes we felt were as contemporary and relevant as ever, which would have been brilliantly brought to life by the Grammy-nominated Aizuri Quartet, beloved PCMF returning performers Jasmine Lin and Clancy Newman, and the dazzling SFS principal bassist Scott Pingel. Little did we know how much more relevant the themes would feel by this spring. We'd love for you to read about the musicians and programs on our website and to watch the clips of the music we were going to feature, if only to reaffirm that even in times of crisis perhaps especially in times of crisis the humanity of the arts is not only important but healing. We wish you and all of your loved ones that hope and healing, as well as good physical and mental health.
