San Diego Cadet Squadron

For all of members and supporters: The cadets and officers of Squadron 144 want to thank you all for standing with us as we navigate through these difficult days. Our squadron continues to meet weekly via Microsoft Teams where we share lessons in leadership, aerospace, and character development. Our Spaatz Cadet, C/Col Jurkoic, issues the "Colonel's Challenge" physical fitness challenge three times a week for anyone desiring to maintain a high fitness level. CAP members are s...upporting the community through volunteer work around the state. In other words, we're keeping busy and we're meeting the challenge of Covid-19 head-on. Squadron 144 competed at the California Wing Cadet Competition in Bakersfield. Cadets C/1stLt Michaela Kovalsky, C/Capt Luca Hoang, C/MSgt Katelyn Winkleblech, C/TSgt Isiah Gonzalez, C/SMSgt Brianna Lee, and C/SSgt Sophia Bledsoe participated on the team. SM Alexander Davenport and Lt Col Jessica Black supervised the team. Family members of the team came up and helped out as well. We received 3rd place! C/Capt Luca Hoang received both the FleetFoot (Fastest Mile) Male and Highest Written Exam Score Award!. C/1stLt Michaela Kovalsky received the FleetFoot Female Award! We are super proud of the team members and can't wait to do it again next year!!!!

C/2d Lt Micaela Kovalsky assumed command last Tuesday at our Squadron meeting! Congratulations to her and her new staff. She proceeded C/Col Jacob Jurkoic, which we thank for his service as the previous Commander. We wish her good luck in her term!

What a fabulous day and evening with SQ 144! Check out the good news of the day! Joshua Schroeder became a Marine Corp Reservist! Aaron Williams soloed during his flight school! Sarah Swan making it happen in USAF Academy! And Mark Ferdinandwalters moving along in his criminal justice major! Woot! Woot!
