Happy Pride Month from Phi Gamma Chi! We are an organization that not only supports the LGBTQIA+ community but also creates a diverse and inclusive environment. And we would like to enlighten you all to be who you are and who you want to be! From the wise words of Chris Colfer, GLEE Actor; "There's nothing wrong with you. There's a lot wrong with the world you live in." ... We must continue to advocate for the LGBTIA+ community now and for the foreseeable future. We will provide a link on our bio of resources that you can check out and support. (Link is still in progress so stay tuned!) Here are some Instagram pages that you can also check out: @impact @aliforneycenter @trevorproject #pridemonth #pride
Phi Gamma Chi commemorates Memorial Day. We pay tribute to the fallen soldiers who served and honor the soldiers who are still serving in the US Military. #memorialday
Last, but not least today’s #pgcgrad for our Senior Spotlight is ¡Daja DuBois- Walker! She crossed in Fall of 2020 with the Beta Alpha Chi Class and graduated with a B.A in Women and Gender Studies.... Her favorite memory was the Graduating Sisters Event, she loved seeing all the generations coming together to celebrate each other like a huge family from the newest members to oldest members. What she has learned from being a part of Phi Gamma Chi is how to be reliant, trust her intuition, and to never stop fighting for what she believes in. After Graduation she will be attending Grad school and still plans on being involved with the organization and also holding down a full time job. Her long term goals are to hopefully be a Dean of Equity and Inclusion of a major university.
Today’s #pgcgrad for our Senior Spotlight is Riley Segel She crossed in the Fall of 2017 with the Beta Alpha Rho Class and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology. ... Her favorite memory from being part of Phi Gamma Chi is when she got Sister of the Semester in the Spring of 2019. During her time in the organization she has learned professionalism, how to take on leadership positions and communication. After Graduation she plans on getting her Masters in Forensic Psychology.
Our next #pgcgrad, Senior Spotlight is..... Samantha Ortiz She crossed in Fall 2014 with the Beta Alpha Mu Class and graduated with a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development with double minors in Education and Special Education. ... When asked what her favorite memory is she says, How can I choose? Every moment with my pledge line, family line, and kiddos. What she had learned from being a part of Phi Gamma Chi was that, you’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with and PGC is filled with gems. After graduation she plans on taking some time to relax, because after 7 years of undergrad to graduate in a pandemic will do that but has big plans for the future and so to stay tuned.
Our next #pgcgrad, Senior Spotlight is..... Shreya Joshi She crossed in Fall 2017 with the Beta Alpha Rho Class and graduated with a B.A. in Communication and Media Studies.... Her favorite memory was the moment she presented her closing speech as President as well as receiving Sister of the Semester by the active cabinet, she said, it felt very humbling, rewarding, and happy. What she had learned from being a part of Phi Gamma Chi was to not be afraid of challenging belief systems as there is always more than one way of finding a solution to a problem at hand. After graduation she plans on working full time with Unitek as a stepping stone in her career in this next chapter of her life.
