We are reaching out today to invite you to our last First Peoples' Center event of the year. May 5th is Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) Awareness Day. 4 out of 5 Native American women will experience violence and 1 in 3 will be raped. We take this day to educate ourselves and bring awareness to this epidemic in a larger effort to cre...ate change. Next week on May 5th at 6:00 PM during our final Films & Frybread event, we will be holding a special screening of the documentary Sisters Rising. The film captures the stories of 6 Native American women who are fighting for change and working hard to advocate for and lift up other Indigenous women.
