YANA question of the day 6/4/2021 One of the best things that I accidentally did was transfer from a track class to a fly fishing class in college. No, I don’t believe we ever got into the water or ever caught a fish but we did spend a lot of time on the WSU football field practicing our casting. Oh, how I love the rhythm of the casting and the sound of the line whipping through the air. Learning to tie flies became an art that I was excited to take home and share with my Dad. He quickly fell in love with the sport and soon the whole family was standing waste deep in cold rivers and creeks swaying with each cast. I’m not going to lie, another benefit to this class that I found by accident was that I was the only women in the class! Question of the day: Have you ever been fishing?

YANA question of the day 2/18/2021 English is a funny language and I often find myself using little tidbits and sayings, and as we have determined sometimes what I hear and repeat is not was really said. One of the first examples was when my son was 4 I told him to go get his PJ and stop running around Buck Naked, it stopped him in his tracks and he said that does not make sense it is Butt Naked. Heck, what do I know and his reasoning was valid so I never used Buck Naked agai...n. Well today while thinking about the question of the day I had to look up this little nugget that has been with me for 23 years of son’s life. What I found, both buck naked and butt naked are of an informal variety of English. Buck is the older of the twain, but, given the linguistic register in which such words are typically found you should really just choose the one that brings you the most joy. Truly it said what bring you the most joy. Question of the day: Are there words that you use that bring you joy? For me going back to say Buck Naked from now on it brings me joy!

YANA question of the day 2/16/2021 Birds are interesting creatures, and now that spring is in the air my Mocking Bird that visits my office window around 10:00am every day has started to show up. Of course I did a little research and this loud bird is just following what he knows is natural . He usually sings to me from February through August, and then again in the Fall but his song is different in the Fall. He also makes sure I know he is here he pounds on my office win...dowI means really pounds on the window to get my attention, he sings a bit of a song and then off he goes, to return again the next day. That routine has been going on for at least the last three years. In an odd way this routine is soothing, even though when I have people in my office they are a little shocked by his pounding. Question of the day: Is there something that happens often in your life, that you just expect it and only notice it when it is gone? https://www.bing.com/videos/search

YANA question of the day 1/14/2021 - lets see your selfie smile in the mirror.... Turn that frown upside down, I said that to my grandson, recently. Yesterday on one of the social media platforms a picture of me from 2004 came up and next to it a photo from 2019. I don’t think I really looked that different, sure there are a few more pounds and wrinkles, but all and all I looked the same. But after I seeing that comparison the next time I passed a mirror I did a quick 2019-2021 comparison also, and I will admit I looked different, but then it hit me I smiled back at myself in the mirror and I really have not changed that much. Like it or not our reflection in the mirror can impact our mood. Today, it is not a question but an action: Look at yourself in the mirror really look, now smile, you feel better don’t you.
