The Salvation Army of Petaluma awarded the Dubinin family with the Alden Hennings Volunteer of the Year Award, recognizing the family's efforts over the past ye...arbell ringing, volunteering in the food pantry, and the oldest son's leading of an Eagle Scout project that landscaped the 1.5 acres of the South McDowell Salvation Army campus. "Whenever we need extra help I know we can call on the Dubinins and they will be there to help," said Corps Officer Major Mitham Clement. "When you meet the family you know that they volunteer out of the goodness of their hearts to help others." The corps also awarded the Doing the Most Good Award to Quality Printing Services of Petaluma, which has worked with The Salvation Army for more than 15 years. Umpqua Bank supports programs that support the community. The Salvation Army Food program is a prime example of a community safety net that Umpqua Bank is honor...ed to help with. Each year the Letter Carriers Union Stamp Out Hunger Drive helps to gather thousands of pounds of food that is delivered to the Petaluma Salvation Army to be sorted, palletized, and used in distribution to those in need in the community. Umpqua bank donated 10,000 reusable bags to be used by the community to fill with food and place at their mailbox for pick up by the letter carriers. Tim Saaveda the VP and branch manager of the Umpqua downtown Petaluma branch is also a member of the Petaluma Salvation Army Community Advisory Board and helped to facilitate the donation of the bags. We believe we have a responsibility to make this world a better place, starting with how we help our neighbors and neighborhoods thrive every day. For nearly 70 years, Umpqua Bank has been rising to the occasion and supporting our communities in times of need. Now more than ever, we’re working closely with our community partners to determine the best way to allocate resources, fund projects and protect our customers and community, Saavedra said. The Stamp Out Hunger Campaign was postponed this year by the Letter Carriers Union because of the pandemic. We all hope that by May of 2021, the Pandemic will be under control and the bags will be used in the Stamp Out Hunger program. A great tradition in the Petaluma community for over 10 years.
