"Broad acknowledged that Gov. Gavin Newsom’s budget this year offers school districts some help in paying down the pension debt. But, he said, It’s like a parent telling a child, ‘I’ll help you get out of credit card debt by paying your minimum monthly payment. It doesn’t do anything to remedy the underlying problem.' PensionTracker has added data from 1,700 school districts in California. With this new data, the market pension debt per household in California is estimated to be $80,643. To view other metrics such as pension debt to tax revenue ratio, and pension debt per capita, visit www.pensiontracker.org. The top ten school districts in California in terms of market pension debt per household are shown below.
