A little plumbing history: The first flushing toilet was found in Crete, in the palace of King Minus dating back to 1500 B.C. The name Plumber is derived from the Latin word plumbum meaning lead. Dating back to Roman times where many pipes were made from lead. Ancient Egyptians also used copper to lay their pipe work as well; almost 3,000 years ago! Many plumbing pipes were made of wood in the 16th and 17th centuries.... The nickname John is derived from Sir John Harrington, who is credited with inventing the very first flush toilet in 1596.
