What to Expect During your Visit to The Lake Almanor Clinic while at Seneca Healthcare District. Due to COVID-19 policies and procedures, a visit to the clinic ...may look a little different than normal. When taking a trip to the clinic this season make sure to bring a coat. The doors to the clinic are locked so that all people entering the facility can be screened prior to entry. Once you reach the doors to the clinic please ring the bell which is a white button located on the door. Ringing the bell alerts the medical office staff that someone is at the door. Please be patient in waiting for this person to come as they may be assisting another person and will be with you as soon as possible. Once the medical office staff has reached the door, they will step outside with you to do a screening; which includes taking your temperature, a short questionnaire in regards to common COVID-19 symptoms and confirming that you have an appropriate mask (no exhalation valves allowed). If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you to wear while within the facility. Find out more information here: https://senecahospital.org//123120-What-to-Expect-Clinic-V

Just some info for everyone, as we get a lot of questions on what the different level of chain controls are in California. R-1 and R-2 are the most common condi...tions. A highway will often be closed before an R-3 condition is imposed. Some local areas may use variations of these designations. You must follow the directions on the signs posted for chain controls or any instructions given by Caltrans or CHP personnel at chain control check points, even if these are at variance with broadcast road condition reports or information contained herein. https://dot.ca.gov/travel/winter-driving-tips/chain-controls

Special Weather Statement until FRI 3:00 PM PST Action Recommended Avoid the subject event as per the instructions Issued By... Reno - NV, US, National Weather Service Affected Area Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties Description ...TWO WINTER WEATHER SYSTEMS TO BRING PERIODS OF TRAVEL DIFFICULTY THIS WEEKEND ... A pair of weak winter storms will bring rain and snow along with breezy winds to the region this weekend. There will be several transitions between rain and snow for areas below 7000 feet as snow levels fluctuate through the weekend. TIMING: The first system will arrive Friday evening into Saturday with a second system on Sunday. SNOW LEVELS: Starting around 4000 feet Friday evening and rising to 6500-7000 feet by mid-morning Saturday through the first system. Snow levels will start around 6000-7500 feet (lowest near the Oregon border) early Sunday morning and falling to 4500-5500 feet by Sunday night. Snow totals will vary greatly due to the fluctuating snow levels during the two systems, with the highest totals in the High Sierra. Much of western Nevada, including the greater Reno- Sparks-Carson City areas will most likely see a dusting of snow at best, with the majority of the light precipitation expected to be rain. The one exception will be areas of northeast California into northwest Nevada, north of a Portola-Lovelock line, which could see up to a couple inches. The snow will be rather heavy and wet at times, which can make travel more difficult. If you have travel plans this weekend, especially across Sierra passes, be sure to check with CalTrans and NDOT for the latest on road conditions and chain controls.

Following a few simple tips can help make your holidays fire-safe: Water your live Christmas tree every day. A dry tree is a fire hazard. Trees too close to a heat source cause 1 in every 4 winter fires.... Make sure you are using the right lights. Some lights are only for indoor or outdoor use, but not both. Replace any string of lights with worn or broken cords or loose bulb connections. Choose holiday decorations that are flame resistant or flame retardant. Keep lit candles away from decorations and things that can burn. More than 1/3 of home decoration fires are started by candles. Consider using flameless candles, they look very similar and are safer. Blow out lit candles and turn off all light strings and decorations when leaving the room or going to bed. Make sure your decorations don’t block windows and doors.

Peninsula Fire Protection District 28.07.2019

Thankfully things improved and they did not have to shut off our power. This has been a power outage drill. But seriously, we live in an area that can have unannounced outages anytime. As part of living in our beautiful area, we need to be prepared for anything nature and man can throw our way. Preparation is preferable to reaction

Peninsula Fire Protection District 12.07.2019

Some of us may be getting ready for the power safety shutoff scheduled potentially for later today. Those with permanent units should still check the fuel level of choice and as always the oil and make sure the unit is in operational condition. For those of us with portable units we should do the same as well as to remember the following. Do not run your generator indoors or near doors or windows. Exhaust is a killer Never plug into the home electrical system. You could poten...tially cause backfeed and injure or kill employees working on power lines. When you have run out of fuel, let the unit cool before attempting to fill tank. Spilling gas on a hot object can cause a fire. And there are other considerations as well. Attached is a brief handout from PG&E regarding generator safety. https://www.pge.com//electricgenerator/generator_safety.pdf
