My Moms TV wasn’t working and I was on the phone with customer service trying to figure out what was going on. I was on hold nearly an hour (never fun), but I stayed mindful that it wasn’t the service agent’s fault and we got the problem resolved. At the end of our conversation she said to me, thank you for being so nice. It was a lovely reminder that just being kind can be so meaningful and you never know what the person on the other end is going through. We can be kind to each other even when we disagree, and kindness should be the norm, not the exception. Directing frustration and anger towards others rarely expedites getting what we want and is usually a sign we need to pause and evaluate what our own unmet needs are. Practice kindness.
