From Birdella's poetry: 2 Corinthians 4 Therefore, seeing we have this ministry We have of His mercy received, We renounce the hidden things of darkness; ... And to His covenant of promise cleave. If our gospel be hid, It is hid to them that are lost. Satan, having blinded their minds, Declares himself to be their boss. He tries to stop the light of the gospel So that the light on them will not shine. But we preach not of ourselves, Only Jesus, the Lord Divine. We have this treasure in earthen vessels That the excellence of the power may be seen. We are troubled on every side, Yet in His word we glean. Persecuted, but not forsaken, Cast down, but not destroyed, Though having a dying body, We are never destitute or devoid. We carry Jesus with us In this our mortal flesh. We speak those things we believe, That His life in us be manifest. He who raised up the Lord Jesus Will us also raise. He who does all things to help, Will give us of His glory and grace. We look not at the things that are seen, Nor at the things that are temporal, But of the things that are not seen. These are the things that are eternal.

Pearl 318: Jesus, Our Example "The servant is not greater than his lord" (John 15:20). Jesus has left us an example for every incident that we will ever incur. If we are dealing with pride, then see Jesus as He humbled Himself, even to the point of death to obey His Father and His God.... If you are dealing with the need to be great, then think on Jesus who became a servant and washed His disciples' feet. If you have a desire for a great ministry, then see Jesus as He asks the twelve disciples to help Him in His ministry. If you are quick to express anger, then see Jesus at the time that He was "examined by scourging" and He opened not His mouth. Jesus is our example. Today, be an example to others, an example of truth, righteousness, and love. Let your light shine so that others can see Jesus. -- This is an excerpt from Strands of Pearls, a daily devotional written by Birdella A. Tucker. Pearl 317: Jesus, Our Communicator "For without me you can do nothing" (John 15:5). Communication involves the release of a message in some form. Jesus is the Message and the messenger is the Holy Spirit as He works in us whether it is through a word or circumstances. Once we receive a message from God, we then have the power to produce fruit after that word. But, if we began to communicate something to someone else or even to ourselves that has not come from our Communicator..., then that message has to be cut off. Scientists have proven that the body receives messages from the brain and then can act accordingly. But, sometimes a wrong message is sent which undermines the effectiveness or the creative ability of the body to produce after God's image. They have learned how to retrain the impulses the body receives through shock or trauma and reroute them to their proper places. This is called cellular communication. Today, let us ask the Holy Spirit to communicate His plans for us. -- This is an excerpt from Strands of Pearls, a daily devotional written by Birdella A. Tucker. Pearl 316: Jesus, Our Elements "And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me" (Luke 22:17-19). When we take communion, we prepare the "elements" which are the juice and the bread. There i...s a saying that bread is the staff of life. Some might take this literally, that man can stay alive if he has enough bread to eat. But Jesus tells us that His body is the staff of life, which was broken for us. If we eat "this" bread, we will have the spiritual nourishment needed to confront the enemies of our soul. Today, let us take the elements, which represent Jesus, the bread of life and the New Testament of His blood. When we do, search your heart to see if there are any "Jebusites" living in your spirit man. If there are, repent, and take the provision provided to give you the strength to drive out what has caused you to be blind or lame. -- This is an excerpt from Strands of Pearls, a daily devotional written by Birdella A. Pearl 315: Jesus, Our Staff Thy rod and Thy staff shall comfort me (Psalm 23:4). In the Hebrew the word staff means support and sustenance. Sustenance means nourishment, provision, and fuel. If we are well provided for, our soul is comforted. Our provisions and nourishment must come from the spirit first, then from natural nourishment. God's Word is the staff that comforts us and supports us on the journey of life. David is saying that he acknowledges God to be there for him... to meet any need, which he might have. The staff was the sign of ownership. Jesus is our staff, our nourishment, our provision. If we look to our job as the means to provide for us, we miss the petal of the staff. Our job comes along to support the work Jesus has for us. When our job is in His hands, He will lead us to the place in which we will be comforted by ample supplies. Today, let us look unto Jesus as our support and supplier. Are you experiencing any financial or emotional need? Jesus, the staff, will provide! -- This is an excerpt from Strands of Pearls, a daily devotional written by Birdella A. Tucker. From Birdella's poetry: Romans 15 We who are strong Ought to bear the infirmities of the weak. We are not to please just ourselves, ... But helping others is our job to seek. For Christ pleased not himself, But became a reproach for us all. Likewise, we are to act towards one another, Not giving occasion for someone to fall. Jesus Christ, being made the circumcision, Was unto the Father confirmation made, So that the Gentiles might glorify God, Then unto Him our sins be laid. Of the root of Jesse Shall a root come forth to reign. In Him shall the Gentiles trust, Receiving peace for believing in His name. Through mighty signs and wonders, And by the power of God's Spirit, Paul preached the gospel of Christ Praying for those who hear it. He strove to preach the gospel Where on none other foundation was laid. He taught a people Who would give themselves to Christ and obey. So now that the Gentiles Are made partakers of spiritual things, They in turn would come to render, And of their finances to him bring. That through these finances, They would send the gospel to Spain. Their money, along with their prayers, Supported his mission to the glory of His name.

Pearl 220: Jesus, Our Fellowship "If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfill ye my joy..." (Philippians 2:1-2). Unless we have fellowship with Jesus, we will not have fellowship with the Father. Fellowship means companionship, comradeship, friendship, and partnership. Notice the words that end in "ship". The word ship means vessel, boat, craft, to send, to transport, to convey, a...nd to dispatch. Without Jesus as our fellowship, we do not have that which will carry us or transport us to heaven where the Father lives. He is our transport and He was dispatched with this assignment, to bring us to the Father. Today, think of those in whom you have fellowship with. Then, ask yourself the following questions: Is this relationship used to bring glory to your Father in heaven? Where is the fellowship going? Who is leading the fellowship? What is your cargo? -- This is an excerpt from Strands of Pearls, a daily devotional written by Birdella A. Tucker. Pearl 219: Jesus, Our Light "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with the Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message, which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not th...e truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with the other, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (I John 1:3-7). Light is divine intervention. Jesus is light, and in Him we see light. As we reach up toward heaven and see His guiding light, our path will be drawn to Him and we will expose the night. For He is our maker, and we are created in the light to shine in the darkness to give others their sight. Today, call upon the Light to come to any area where there seems to be uncertainty in making a decision. -- This is an excerpt from Strands of Pearls, a daily devotional written by Birdella A. Pearl 218: Jesus, Our Seed "His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven" (Psalm 89:29). David is acknowledging that God promised him a seed to sit on his throne as the days of heaven. This is a prophetic promise of Jesus, the seed of David by the lineage of Jesse. Again we read in verses 36-37, "His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me. It shall be established for ever and the moon, as a faithful witness in heav...en." Jesus, our Seed, speaks for us to the Father throughout all generations to establish us and strengthen us so that we will be able to stand before Him. God commanded seedtime and harvest as a perpetual law. As His seed, He will cause us to reproduce ourselves in the lives of others as well as bring forth a harvest of souls for His glory. Today, let us plant a seed of prayer for someone that does not know the Lord as his or her personal savior. It is written in the Word that Jesus prays for us continually, even for the rebellious. As we plant the word in the life of someone else, His seed will come forth at the appointed time. -- This is an excerpt from Strands of Pearls, a daily devotional written by Birdella A. Tucker.
