Peaches Christ and Heklina will be hosting an online memorial for Matthew Simmons/Peggy L'Eggs on Saturday, September 26 at 5 p.m. There will be a reception following the memorial hosted by Kylie Minono where people can connect and share memories and stories. Today we remember the heroism of rescue dogs in the aftermath of 9/11. Nineteen years ago, about 300 dogs and their handlers took part in search and rescue efforts at Ground Zero. It is with broken hearts that we must share the loss of an indelible member of the Shanti/PAWS family. Yesterday evening, we learned that our beloved staff person, Matthew Simmons / Peggy L'Eggs passed away. Matthew touched so many lives, and his love and dedication to his clients were remarkable. At the appropriate time, we will be hosting a virtual celebration to give us a chance to come together to remember and celebrate him. Matthew went above and beyond in honoring the lives of his clients, and we will do the same for him. The world is a little less compassionate and warm today, and as we remember Matthew's tremendous kindness, sense of humor, and, of course, sartorial splendor, we hold him close in our hearts.
