7.6 Mike run/walk. My self-care is so important to maintain my ability to work successfully with clients who are challenged by trauma, anxiety, & depression. I also work with high-conflict couples. It’s hard work but extremely rewarding. I’m always honored that clients trust me to join them in their journey to health & wellness. . . #selfcare #counseling #trauma #anxiety #depression #couples #couplescounseling #lcsw #shermanoakstherapist #shermanoaks #hopecoastcounseling

As we head into the second wave of Covid-19, you may may be feeling foggy, irritable, and fatigued. The adrenaline of the first wave is over and, while there is good news about a vaccine, getting through the winter may be the toughest challenge of all. Assurances that we’re all in it together may elicit annoyance and even anger, and the thought of snuggling up in bed instead of strategizing for the future sounds like a plausible plan. Remaining energized during this time takes a lot of work. If you are having difficulty coping or you are feeling overwhelmed, please reach out to me for assistance. hopecoastcounseling.com

Compassion fatigue is always omnipresent in the helping fields. Some of the effects include: Chronic physical and emotional overwhelm Depersonalization Feelings of inequity toward the therapeutic or caregiver relationship... Irritability Feelings of self-loathing Difficulty sleeping Weight loss Headaches Decreased job satisfaction It’s important to be aware of these feelings when they first arise & proactive steps can be taken to mitigate the effects of compassion fatigue.
