Happy National Croissant Day! The start of 2021 brings good news! We’ve started construction for Pâtisserie Mélanie’s new location, on the corner of 30th and Gunn in North Park. When we closed our current location, Chef Melanie Dunn began designing the new kitchen and café with architect Tony Garcia of Asquared Studios - Art+Architecture. Bonjour, tout le monde! We wanted to give an update on our status. Our current location has been closed since March 15. Like all of you, we are monitoring the situation and hope we can re-open our Park Boulevard location this fall. We’ve also been busy working on the plans for our 30th Street location in North Park. The design phase is complete, so construction will begin soon. We will post periodic progress updates here on Instagram and on Facebook. We are looking forward to sharing our handmade croissants and stories from these unusual times through which we are living. Today is International Women's Day! We would like to recognize our co-owner and pastry chef, Mélanie Dunn. Mélanie shares her experience about how she became an entrepreneur while also becoming a mother. She says, "Through three years of working and training in Paris and three additional years of pregnancy and child-rearing, I practiced my craft, incubated ideas, and chose materials and suppliers. Like a well-proofed croissant, the end result of patience and perseverance was a carefully considered menu and experience for customers." Her dedication to her craft and her daughter allowed her to have the best of both worlds. Tag an inspirational woman in your life!
