Let’s talk a little history... normally my day’s are filled with meetings and books and talks of historical things, beautiful buildings, pictures of past park a...dventures.... I miss it so much and well my family has had their fill. Many of us drive by a beautiful building that sits in a parking lot. Wondering why this very odd placed house with its bright colors and creative roof line sits next to a hotel. This building I text about is the Weber House. A house that holds a ton of secrets. A house that shares its beauty with Old Riverside Foundation. A house that gives back in so many ways! If you haven’t had a chance to visit it just yet, thumb through the amazing pictures on their beautiful website oldriverside.org. Put it on the things to do when they let us out of lockdown. Who knows maybe you’ll even get me as your docent. Got questions let me know!!! Or just want to share a story of your visit to this remarkable city landmark. Our better yet join the foundation!!!

Do you recognize any of these features? How will our current situation influence future design? (The sink by the front door sounds pretty smart right now!)

Lighting the past.... part 3 One of these imagines is not like the other. Both photos where shared from google imagines. In the foreground is our city of river...side beloved parent navel orange tree. To continue this story of how this came to be. Windermere Tower Properties every year does a community project. Every year all the realtors get together and do something to give back to our community. So 4 years ago my broker Brent Lee challenged us to come up with a project and we would vote on it. So I do what every other person that is faced with a challenge does. I went to Baskin Robbins on Magnolia and Arlington to come up with an idea to present... and have ice cream of course. As I sat there I noticed something that I hadn’t pay attention to in quite some time. The light post. It was missing the center shade. I’ve driven by it a million times never noticing that it was missing. I got home and opened a couple of my beautiful books of Riverside to find that this post has been photographed in a number of photos for years with it is always missing its shade. So I decided maybe we could fund the project to get it replaced. So I spoke to at the time our fearless wonderful historic preservation officer for the city of Riverside Erin Gettis. To which she said well let’s see what needs to be done to get it replaced. So she set me up with a long time friend that worked on behalf of different projects for the city Jennifer Mermilliod. With Jennifer’s help I was able to learn the history and why it sits where it is. I won’t bore you with those details again as we have already covered it in our previous posts. But of course on to the task at hand unfortunately it wasn’t about money that this globe had gone missing for so long but more so because there was no globe to replace it and no person to do that job could be located. Join us tomorrow for the conclusion to this story of dedication and perseverance
